Ok here goes..

I was wondering if you could tell me what kind of times to expect out of this car. Now I know that you already know most of this information, but I am going to be as detailed as possible.

First, alt. is 1300ft.

I have a 75 T/A with a 400 in it.
The stroke for the motor is 3.75 and the bore is 4.185 Rod length is 6.605 Compression is 10.75

The heads are 6X and the rocker ratio is 1.5-1. The Intake Valve is 2.11, Exh valve is 1.77. Combustion chamber is is 72cc and I am using .039 in. head gasket (thickness)

I will be using a Crane Hyd cam with
Lift - 490 intake and 490 Exh.
Lobe- 110
Duration is 292 - 292 @ .050 is 230 - 230
Timing is set at 38 Degrees.

The car will be using a 4.11 gear and a 3000 converter.

Single plane intake with a Holley 750 CFM carb
the jetting is as follows: 75 jets in the front and 78 in the back.

Tires are M/T Drag 28/10.5W - 15

the vehicle weight is about 3620 (full tank)

I was just wondering what kind of times you would expect this thing to run in the 1/8 or 1/4??

I'd say you could EASILY get under 60 seconds.

:D

Bro.. I could push it in under 60 seconds!!

seriously... what do you think it will run?

Ok.. I have 3 cars that I am finishing right now. the Trans Am a Super Stock Eliminator Vega and a 70 Camaro. I know for a fact the Camaro will run about 6.50 in the 1/8th(the car is my old Camaro with my friends 496 in it). I expect the Vega to run in the high 5's(this is a guess). But the Trans Am has me stumped. The car is for my little brother. He has never really driven anything this fast before. I want to make sure that is is not too fast before I send the heads off to get machined.

I just ran the motor on desktop dyno...

it makes 652 horsepower at 6500 RPM and 574 FT pounds at 5500 RPM!!!!!

Natty...
I will be running it in the 1/8th.

Test Boy..
If it runs 10's I will have to tone it down. My brother smokes alot of weed.

Humor Me....
We can go run the dude in the Superbird!!!

[so its actually about a 406-408 cid/are stock pontiac rods
that long?/i've forgotten/goddamn those are long!]

[what kind of rockers? arent stock pontiacs 1.65?]

[if it hooks? flat 11's/pontiacs run very good!/only reason
i dont think 10's is the weight, altitude and hydraulic cam...]

Cool....

A redneck version of "Fast and Furious" cars.

No, these were around for just a little bit longer than the rice rockets of that movie.

And they even sound like cars.:D

Dballer: what could be done with a 68' Impala ? I mean what improvement would you suggest me ?

TONS!! A 68 Impala is in my honest opinion the best year. It is a heavy car but it has the best lines. What kind of motor is in it?

68 is most likley the hardest year to find from the late 60's Impalas.

I should ask to my mom just to be sure but I checked about 2 years and if I'm correct it had a 280HP. She won that big ass car in a lottery when she was 24. You're right, it's huge and heavy, and red, pretty scary :)

Is that around mid 500 HP at the rear wheels? If yes i would say around low-mid elevens.

well.. it is 652 at the flywheel. I am, not sure about what it would make at the wheels. 574 ft pounds of torque.

15% loss is the avg. aint it???

about a 100 horses right???

If the desktop dyno numbers are fairly accurate, I would guess mid to low 7s in the 1/8 and mid to low 11s in the 1/4. Are you gonna take it to the track? If so, let us know how close we got.

That's the rule of thumb i use, so i'm reckoning mid 500's for the rear wheels. Therefore i would be surprised if it went better than 11's. Mind you, it's still quick enough to shit my pants:D

What do you think it will run Dballer?. You must have a better idea than any of us.

I think you guys are getting close. Dick tater I think was pretty on target with his 1/8th mile prediction and I think you (vinylgroover) were pretty close with your 1/4 mile guess.

my prediction is about 7.50 in the 1/8th and about 11.40 in the 1/4

I do plan on adding nitrous, but the car is for my little brother (27) he smokes alot of weed, so I do not want it to launch too hard where I will risk the car loosing traction and him loosing control before the 60ft mark.

i will for sure post up all of the times as soon as we get it out to the track. First he has to come up with the cash to have it sent to the chassis shop and have the rear frame notched. Then I will be setting up a 4-link suspension with coil over shocks for the car. We will be welding in larger wheel wells too. After that I will weld in the sub frame connectors and a cage. Then it will be time to make some time runs.
