Some training questions...

I was wondering what my target heart rate should be when i'm on the 'mill.
Also, i'd like to really shape up my shoulders. They are genetic disasters. Sort of a downward slope , very narrow and no def to them. What dbell exercises could I do to really build up the top outer edge of them (unsure of muscle name) ??? I have been doing front raises(7 lb), lateral raises, arnold presses(10lbs), rear flies(have trouble withthese)

Target heart rate will depend on age and goals....plus, your present condition.

SHoulder builder - OH Press with barbell or dumbbells, dumbbell lateral raises, clean and press.
 
As far as your heartrate, don't get hung up on those monitors that are on the cardio machines. You can get your own personal heart monitor & track what works for you & your body. But generally a guideline for "effort" on the machines if you are doing steady-state cardio, you shouldn't be able to hold a talking conversation while you are doing it. If you are doing interval training, you should feel like you ran a sprint after each interval.
 
My treadmill doesn't have a heart monitor. I just want to make sure i am working at the right rate to do the most work. I was just gonna take my pulse for 30 sec and dbl while on the mill. I tried it yesterday and it was 136 I believe. Age=36 goals=lotsa tummy fat loss,some overall fat loss :rolleyes:

When I do a quick pulse check to make sure I'm in the zone, take your pulse for 6 seconds then add a zero to that number
