FJ seems to think it's impossible for a grown guy to foster a teenage girl w/o any perverse things going on. it makes me wonder what kind of relationship he had with his family.

what SofaGeorge posts on the internet is his business. from what FJ has been quoting I see nothing wrong with it. so what, he made some informative posts about a sexual topic, we all do it; whether it's on the internet or just shootin' the shit with friends. not to gross anyone out, but if our parents had the internet back in their days i'm sure some of them would post in a similar fashion to Kronk/Kronkette. for all we know Finaject's parents may have posted pics of Papa FJ giving Mama FJ a facial.

as for the exchange student, if everything SG has posted is true, i'd be willing to bet the world she has no regrets about coming to the US. if she had to do it all over again it sounds like she wouldn't want anyone else to be her host parent(s).

if you think it's perverse and morally wrong to bring happiness to a teenager that doesn't know a soul w/in 10,000 miles you should think about the next 15 years or so. maybe you'll have a 16 year old daughter and you'll post on Elite how proud of her you are only to have some guy come on here trying to belittle you. how would that make you feel?

I guess I am the vote of dissension (sp?)/dissent..while I think it's admirable for SF to take in a teen girl with problems (from what I have been reading from his posts) I would not ever let my 11yo daughter (when she's older, of course) habitate with a single male as an exchange student. No matter how well the intention and how good a man SF is..just doesn't seem right to me...but then again I am not the morality police. ..and please don't you all blow a gasket at me for saying so - I am speaking as a parent.

I'll have to admit that when first reading about this exchange student living with him........ I was wondering why "they" let a single guy take car of a teenage girl who is not his own. I thought it had to be a family with other kids in the house......... I guess that shows how much I know.

Guys, thanks for the support, but believe me - defending my character isn't necessary. Sonny wakes up in the morning a happy, active kid. She calls me "Dad" and my girlfriend Marianne "Mom" and truthfully, and I'm pretty sure we are the most stable family Sonny has ever had... even if we aren't married. Tonight, Marianne and Sonny are taking a hip hop class together, and next weekend they are both flying up north to visit Marianne's family.

This morning after I drove Sonny to school I found this note from her on my desk next to my computer:

"Dad & Mom,
I'm so happy to be with you. There is no other host family in the whole world who would give me this support and love.
With all my love -
Sonny"

She's living a happy, well adjusted life, and she's getting the kind of "teenage years" she deserves to have.

Fina's obsession with Sonny and sniffing children's panties was just that - an "obsession." Fina is a young man afflicted with a severe personality disorder. He posted in excess of 100 times about sniffing children's underwear, and if you watched his post count he was hitting pretty much 100 posts a day under his aliases - that's one first class obsessed nut. Oddly, while he attributed this interest to me - I've never posted anything that was indicative of a sexual interest in children. Fina couldn't stop talking about it. He couldn't stop because his disorder pretty much controls him.

I thought it was a little odd and desperate that he had to post quotes about impartial erections and premature ejaculation as though they would embarass me. A year ago I finished writing the business plan for a national chain of impotency clinics. I spent about 6 months researching the topic of sexual dysfunction, and I make much of my career out of my medical research knowledge, PR, and marketing. If someone posts a technical question about sexual dysfunction - I'll happily try to answer it if it falls within my knowledge base.

The Mods and many others on this board were aware of Fina's psychological troubles for sometime. It was obvious he wasn't just a jerk (most people with personality disorders are labeled "jerks"). The disorder that he brought to the boards in recent days is indicative of someone with his type of condition. He's unable to see clearly how his actions affect others, the board, or the image of how he presents himself - and he is unable to stop. In time he will move on to a new obsession, but for now I far prefer he focus his energies on me. I'm an adult. I can easily deal with his attentions. There are others here and elsewhere who would be more vulnerable... and I think the Mods also appreciate the mature attitude you have all shown throughout this experience.

I was an exchange student when I was 16. I would have loved to have someone like SofaGeorge be my host parent. My host family was terrible... ugh, 9 years later, I still have nightmares about the whole experience.

SG, it's great what you are doing. Don't let idiots like Fina get to you.

Speaking as a parent, and that qualifies it.

Speaking as a male in my late 20's, and personally knowing Sofa... I think you live in a cardboard box. Sofa aside... to be skeptical of a situation solely because one is not married, is closed-minded. Nothing is less than pedestrian in this situation, nor would i have a problem with a guy in his mid-40's, living with his girlfriend, taking care of an exchange student... especially when said couple may express a desire to have a child of their own...

This way, they get to have a child to take care of at 16... it will prepare them when they get one in a smaller package and it grows up. I think it is A+ Parenting, and shows future vision...

Sofa has more knowledge of how to handle teenagers than anyone on this board... now can you dig that?
