Let's assume you have a regular diet (not a BB's diet, lots of sodium)

Then you want to lose all the water you gain with sodium rich food

how long would it take (with a low sodium diet) before you have no more water retention ?

I believe water retention is a fairly temporary state, by diet standards anyway. Losing that water happens in a matter of days after cutting down your sodium.

Don't know that you'll ever get to "no" retention, but you should notice the results from cutting your sodium fairly quickly.

water retention does decrease in a couple of days (as long as your doing something to make you loose water, like cardio or working out) you can speed up the process by potasium loading.
