Sodium on a cutting diet

Just realized that my morning protein pancake I eat (1.5c egg beater, .5c cottage cheese, 1c oatmeal, cinnamon, splenda) has around 1g sodium :eek2: . The rest of my meals are basicaly ground top round or chicken breast with Spicy Mustard(along with my flax and fish oils)....so I figure I'm getting probably around 2500mg-3000mg sodium/day.

Is this too much, will this amount bloat me? While cutting, what should I limit my sodium intake too? I'm noticing I have a slight bloat going on in my face, but can't figure out where it's coming from.....I don't know if the sodium is the culprit.

I don't think sodium is such a culprit that people make it out to be, I stopped believing that years ago. Only if you're doing a show you should worry about sodium, if you're just dieting you can always drop water fairly quickly.

why not add some pottassium?

That helps of course, a very good idea indeed. But, daily potassium intake is already in our system through multi/vit-min. If you take in more then a certain amount, then it becomes unhealthy. Not many people know what that "certain amount" is...I will tell you this, ON DEATH ROW: they use POTTASIUM injections (a derivative of course, but has a link w/ pottsium).

Where does the sodium come from???? certainly not 1/2c cottage cheese, and definitely not oatmail. Is it egg beaters? If so, maybe go for 100% egg whites from www.lanaseggwhites.com. It comes in a 5lb tub. Very convenient.

1/2c cottage cheese = 470mg sodium
1.25c egg beaters= 575mg sodium

Sodium is a preservative, that's why it's in everything. So, it's very hard to avoid it, unless you eat all fresh food.
