So what's the deal with using work laptops at home?

So my home laptop officially crapped out today, going to evaluate if I want to fix it or replace but I have another work laptop. My internet connection at home is my cable account and I'm not signed into work network right now. Can they still track what I look at in terms of sites even though I'm not linked in?

I'm just wondering in case EF and my guitar sites, etc might get me in trouble.

Yes, unless you delete history. I have no problems using a personal laptop for work reasons. I have alot of problems using a work laptop for personal reasons. No one at works needs to know what I do in the privacy of my own LAN.

I know the hospital my wife works at has tracking progs installed that record everything.

Her friend let a fellow employee use her computer, he visited porn sites, deleted the cookies and browser history and SHE got nailed.

never use work technology for personal use - cell phones, black berries, computers, etc. when are people going to figure this out?

buy a usb thumb drive, install a version of firefox on the thumb drive, then launch it.. only use that browser to view or visit those sites..

note, if you are on the company network, they will still monitor the traffic the end user goes to.. unless they are using a workstation based monitoring system.. in which case the afore mentioned process would work..

i surfed EF throughout the day at work. loved the big steroids banner at the top of the screen, as we all do. luckily, i'm skinny, so no one could possibly assume anything.

if you are truly worried about it, get a zero trace web browser that fits on a flash drive..

I am a network engineer and work in an it dept.. unless you did something illegal or were selling corporate secrets I doubt they would go farther then history & cookies. Dont be downloading stuff using limewire or going to shady porn sites.. 99% of virus and spyware comes from misuse of the internet.
