I can't wait to hear the reply to this thread!!! lol
It was quite comical because I've never burned trash and I couldn't get the lighter to work. I doused the garbage with gasoline, lit a newspaper, threw it on the fire and ran... It wasn't working and I was getting very frustrated, the neighbor woman (who burns trash all the time) came over and showed me how to do it.

Get a 55 gallon drum.
Cut the bottom out of it.
Set it on blocks.
Very hot fire from result of chimney effect.
Plus the fire is kept contained. Just stand by with the garden hose.
