I bet the sponsors already keep the board going w/the adv. space they buy. I doubt it costs 35.91 per member per 6 months for membership. If this was a file download site, then yes maybe these costs would be justified. but as a message board with only text and tiny tiny smilies, then no i think it is outrageously priced for what it is. Now dont start on the whole "but your knowledge is worth a lot more than that crap" Im talkin about tangible/real costs associated with running a forum.

I appreciate your concern, and you're right, setting up a forum is pretty inexpensive.

But the costs add up real quick from the large number of members that come at once, maintaining our servers (there are ten - counting all of the site), updating our software, providing customer service (what other site like Elite has phone support?), and maintaining the archive of millions of posts that goes back to 1996.
