Snowboarders and Skiiers

Anyone try those snow blades yet? How do you like them compared anything else? I love these bad boys but don't want to buy a pair, I already have a snowboard. I'm going up north for a weekend to Boyne Mountain in about a month and I'm takin my board. I'm wondering if i should just rent the blades or get rid of my board and buy my own blades. I don't want both cuz i don't have the time to go that often.

Snow blades?

I've been out of the skiing loop for a year so what exactly
are they?

they look like 12" ski's.

U kiddin?

Blades are for poo-packers.

G to the muthafuckin AY.

They are like rollerblades for the snow, they are fun but only at a park or something, if you just go down the hill they get boring.

A great work out for your ankles though.

Ahh....OK.

You just made me think that its time to replace my
Salomon F9's....damn things have gashes, scrapes,
etc.. etc.. from all the off-piste skiing.

I woudl stick to boarding, you do not want to waist your time learning something new if you do not have that much time to go. I think they look cool, but I would imagine you would be spending alot of time on your ass if you are just learning. I would rather spend my time shredding the mountain than sitting on it. Just my opinion but I am also a die hard snowboarder, would never do anything else.

Snow blades are good for kids. They really suck if you are going to go down a black diamond or some more difficult blue trails. They are too short to be stable at a higher speed and will corner and carve like shit the faster you go. Plus they look like fake skis and just scream overall gay. I laughed every time one of them tried to pass or race me on my Atomics, those things are good for Green trails and that's about it. Like i said, for kids.

Get skis or a snowboard. If you snowboard already try a pair of beginner shorter skis. You might like it. But then again i am partial to skis and their artform.

Longer skiis = Faster speed BUT less manoeuverability.

Shorter skiis = Slower speed BUT greater manouverability

I used to do moguls in Canada. :)

Shorter skiis also let you do much better tricks.

Yes yes yes. It's all true with skis but there is also the factor of how good a skier you are. Shorter skis make tricks easier, that's true, like a 160 will be easier then a 200 in the half pipe. But snowblades are a whole different story. They are too short to be effective on more difficult tricks and too short to be stable at high speed. In short i think they are a joke and good for kids.
