Snoring

Not really an anabolic question, but figured most people have it here. When I gain weight I start snoring more, but then will I lose it the snoring goes away. Is it because of the extra weight or extra water? Anyone else experience this?

same here......I have sleep apnea so that's the main contributor but weight gain does make it worse.....

Yep, wieght gain did it for me. My wife complains constantly. If it's a problem for you, get some of those nose strips, and the throat spray. They work pretty well. Not fool proof, but better than a kick in the ribs.

Same here, when up 20 lbs with fina and had horrible night sweats and snoring. My wife said she had to wake me up a few times because she though I was choking. Dropped 15 and feel fine now. Im ready for snoring again now. lol

I tried nose strips, but they were a waste.

well that sucks bro. you did a cycle and gained 20 lbs and lost 15 of them. i'de be crying and snoring

the strips were worhtless.......go to the dentist and ask for "Silent Night"....it's a mouthpiece that prtrudes the jaw to open the airway....I wear it every night and my girl can now sleep in the same bed....it'll set you back a few hundred dollars but for some it's the only option

You guys ever here of someone holding there breath at night? I think that's what I do. The wife says I snore too.
I told my Endo Doc that I still feel tired through the daytime. He says My bloodwork looks fine and suggested I ask my primary Doc to monitor my sleep.

it's called sleep apnea

There is a surgery for this too, thought I think thats a last resort. I think the relation is betweeen fat weight, not just pound for pound. When I was a fat 220, I snored like a grizzley, but when I got down to 180, it stopped. Now I am back up to 220 but much lower bf% than before and while I snore on occasion, its nothing like it was before. My guess is that regardless of how much I weigh, if I can get the bf% down a bit more the problem will be gone.

There is a laser surgery for sleep apnea. It is Laser-assisted uvulopalatoplasty (LAUP). They use lasers to remove the soft tissue from the back of the throat and from the palate (the roof of the mouth separating the mouth from the nasal cavity.)

It seems to have a 90% success rate.

I recently lost 20lbs but my wife says I still snore sometimes but not nearly as bad. Now her dog (a Pug) out snores me. :D

Thanks for the help, I knew there was a surgery out there for it, but didnt remember the name and didnt have time to look for it.

Thanks gilly6993, I will look into that.

I just saw on one of the news channels that there's a new proceedure to stop snoring. They implant these small rods in the soft tissue so it doesn't relax/collapse. This keeps the passage open. They said it's cheaper and less recovery time.
