soimetimes i cant eat at work, and i work for 6 to sometimes 12 hrs. on the long days i can eat, but like today, im working at a private party for prolly about 6 hrs. what are some good snacks to eat at work? i was thinking mixed nuts, protien shake, carb drink. thats all i can think of. i just want a few good calories untill i can get home to some real food. i hate feeling hungry.

thanx

protein bars...that's usually what i rely upon to prevent me from eating a bunch of garbage or candy

You're better off going with shakes than bars, which have a lot of other crap in them.

Green veggies are cheap, good to snack on, very low calories, and you should be eating them anyway. Try taking some raw broccoli, green beans, or green pepper cut into slices.

Drop the bars! Never use them. I used to use them all the time. I got fat from them. Once I dropped them...man did I start to get ripped! Dude, come on! There are always ways around this. Take a thermos with you and put a really thick shake in there. That will fill you up. Or use a shake that has oatmeal and protein. That too does the job. Or take a turkey sandwhich with you. Just say you really have to go to bathroom to do a #2 and when your in the bathroom...just hide and eat that son of a bitch sandwhich! Say you forgot something in your car. Go eat a sandwhich or shake! But never eat bars bro!

The most convenient :

beef jerky
mixed nuts
hard-cooked eggs, peeled

Oh yeah! You can do that. I've done that before. Hardboiled eggs but remove the yolk and but the whites in a baggy and eat like your eating chips.

yeah...but he is a big boy. us big boys need man food! Protein and good carbs!

Big boys should also be eating vegetables...didn't your mother teach you anything? You need the fiber and nutrients they provide. (Yes, you can take a multivitamin, but it's better to get it from the natural source.)

Well, bars are an easy source of protein and vitamins, but are a source for too many carbs. However, i dont have the adequate time to move into the kitchen and cook every evening.

Shakes...havent had one in close to a year now. Every time i was downing a shake, i was gaining a pound. Once i hit 250lbs, what is the need to get any heavier? When in fact, i could afford to lose a couple of pounds.

cwick...get the zero sugar carb sense nitrotech bars and/or myoplex bars......decent taste and about 30g of protein.....low carb and pretty low fat...by far the best out there.....

Carth (and any others that have a knowlegable opinion on the matter) what is the problem with bars? I know most are full of sugars and too many carbs but not all of them. I use a bar that has 220 cals, 26g protein, 1g sugar, 16g carbs and 6g of fat. Am I missing something? I can eat whenever I want but just find these convenient but if these are inhibiting be for some reason I'm not aware of I'd like to know it.

It's the high sugar high carb ones you need to stay away from.....look at your physique......are you happy? Are you making progress? Are you putting on weight in the right places....than continue to do what you are doing.....like said, I eat one about 4 or so times a week before I train, so maybe I'm buring mine off, but my bodyfat is incredibly low.....

Well, Tri-O-Plex, Detour and One Way and definately the worse...I'd get a snickers and a glass of milk before I ate one...but, that's me.....which do u eat.?

Shit, who's totally happy with their physique? I will say I'm more happy than I was last year and even more happy than the year before that because I'm making progress. I am not the biggest guy in the gym by any stretch. I am 5'8" 180lbs and stay right at 10%bf. Most people that see me would say I look great and obviously know what I'm doing in the gym. It's just the fact that I am still learning and hopefully always will with regards to diet. Sometimes even if you are getting results they could be even better by tightening things up even further. It's just an endless pursuit of a goal that keeps moving. That's the frustration and the fun at the same time. The ellusive goal of perfection, which by the way for me is not to be 240 and shredded but as the goal continues to evolve maybe it will turn into that.. Whoa, I'm starting to trip myself out here. Maybe I really do want to be 240 and ripped and just don't know it yet. Fuck it, somebody get me some freaking anadrol, I've got some work to do! lol

I need to get down to about 235 and i should be ripped then, which means i have a hell of a lot of work to get done. My partner is always on my ass for me to cut my bodyfat. I have all the strength i need, but not the definition as is desired.

5 bucks for a case, I hope......to be 100% honest, Detour, Trio-Plex, One Way and U-Turn and the absolute worst bars from a nutional standpoint.....completely loaded with fillers, sugars and insulin spiking carbs.....once in a blue moon is fine......as part of your diet, pass on them. Trust me, I've done the research...........

the only thing i like from a gym is a pre made protien shake or a post work out carb drink. other then that, ill make a whey shake at home.

Moderation is the key here: once in a while.
But as a regular snack at work: you need natural foods which are healthy, nutritious and are going to satisfy hunger pangs.

Agree

...and I would be somehow sceptical with what's written on those bars labels

Mmm energy bars.. well today I brought a few of them with me. I kind of like em.

Quaker "Oatmeal to Go" bar
196 cals
3.4g protein
33g carbs

Vector Energy bar (x2)
200 cals
9.3g protein
34g carbs

Bio Protein bar (never tried one, just bought it today..cost me 2.50)
310 cals
21g protein
43g carbs

So these bars plus a banana and two yogurts are what i'll be snacking on while at work today besides my tuna sandwich. That kind of sucks but I'm broke till payday so I got no other veggies in muh house.

buu it sounds like you're taking in a whole lotta sugar...

figureskater - this made me laugh: "Big boys should also be eating vegetables..."

I snack on almonds at work... then have a shake on my drive home so I'm not starving when I walk in the door.

Which ones do you recommend?

None of those three mentioned....LOADED with sugar...I never eat one with more than 2g of sugar.....myoplex carb sense and nitrotech carb control take the cake.....
