True story:

I lost the city-wide spelling bee in the 5th grade for misspelling the word T-O-N-G-U-E.

Never misspelled it again, but does that really matter NOW?!?!

Ture sotry:

I won the nationwide spelling bee in 5th grade. No joke.

The nation in question was Venezuela, and the language was English, so the cards were kind of stacked in my favor.

I lost at the qualifiers of the 6th grade one, I didn't take it well. I was allowed to go to the finals and the dude who basically took my place, he didn't win and I made fun of him. The faculty chaperone or whatever made me apologize, and rightly so.

It might have been 6th & 7th grades, I don't remember well. But one year, I was Venezuelan spelling champion for English one year.

good job bro, a family member went to the finals tonite, lost by hearing the word wrong...but they were like 5th out of 36

That's right, I saw your post about how you were "literally going to a spelling bee tonight." How did it go? 5th out of 16th is actually in the top third, good job!

I think my comp had 12 competitors so I only had to be in the top 8.5% of spelling ability.

So it's not far off at all.
