smokin weed before the gym

I know this post has been done prolly a thousand times but its usually about the effects of smokin weed on testoseterone levels or what not. I am actually curious because the other day i actually smoked before i went to the gym and i had a sick workout. i felt more concentrated on the muscles i was tryin to work and i was hitting heavy weights even though i didnt think i was gonna be able to. Im just lookin for everyone's 2 cents here and wondering if anyone has experienced the same thing. Also are there any advantages/disadvantages to doing this.
 
I find it to be an advantage to train my mind to accomplish such feats on command - without the use of mind altering drugs.

IMO, smoking anything and training do not mix. I want my body primed to grow. I don't want to divert physiological resources to the attention of a drug that will not help me grow, nor to the attention of lung tissue damage.
 
I'm in no way knockin the wonder that is pot, but I don't think it's really a good idea to smoke up before training. It seriously affects your judgment in a not-so-good way. However, I see nothing wrong with hittin the gym hard as hell and then goin home to relax, eat, and smoke one. Just my 2cents.

I third the notion. Nothing better than that spliff after the work has been done!
 
If I workout high, sometimes I am so focused that I have an awesome workout. Sometimes I just feel like falling asleep. Therefore I do not make this a regular habit cause I never know which way it will go.
 
good call. I tried it once and was more worried about what song was on the radio and who was watching me than actually lifting weights. Hence.. I won't ever do it again.
 
I love smoking before the gym. It gets me more focused on what I'm doing, and relaxes me so I'm not so tight!!! Some people can't handle it, others can.

I think everyone should try it once and see what happens, you might be surprised!!!!
 
i know some people who can work out when they are stoned and still do just fine.

personally i wait until after my workout to smoke so i can just relax and start EATING.
 
I have done it, it sucked made me feel very unmotivated. Now AFTER leg day is over it helps to chill with some bud and makes me hungry as well.

I don't do it all the time, but if I'm training biceps/shoulders/triceps I like to smoke before hand. The reason people associate pot heads with being stupid while stoned is that they "zone out" or what I like to call it "zone in." When I'm hitting a set of preacher curls when stoned it seems like I can feel every muscle fiber contracting... painful pumps.

Not for everyone though. The problem is once you get stoned you have to get off the couch and into the gym. Once you are there its all good.

about "zoning." The weed makes whatever your attention is on your sole focus. Everything else gets blocked out. Which is why you will be watching TV and somebody will say something to you and you don't hear it.lol
 
dito rj420...if you can actually GET to the gym after blazing, seems to be a different type of pump. also, i think it has to do with the level of the high

Smith2727, if I smoke 3 or 4 bowls of my good green I'm not going anywhere, but 1-2 is perfect.
 
Love it. Great mind-muscle link. I can really feel and isolate the muscle I'm working. Sucks to do cardio or leg day high. FOCUS is great
 
First of all, I am pretty sure that the tar from smoking bud is also proven carcinogenic like tobacco ie. cancer causing.

Second, I am also pretty sure that it makes it harder to get oxygen into your blood/muscles.

I do it anyway.
 
every now and then i don't mind a little puff before the gym. like was said before, the attention that you can put into every rep of every exercise is amazing. the worst thing i have found is taking a bonger of the 911 and going to the gym. i get so paranoid that everyone is watching my every move that it kills the workout.

i lift high every now and then as well.. my lifts are about the same, i do concentrate more and my workout seems to go smoother...:)
 
I'll be honest. I don't think I've mentioned this on this board, not out of regret, but simply because everyone has thier own unique way of getting pumped up. My pre-workout amp-up stack is:

10mg Adderall
20mg Ephidrine
200mg Caffeine
a small bowl of green

As some people have stated the mind muscle connection is far greater(for me at least). I have serious ADD so even this littlest of goings-on in the gym will completely divert my attention from my training, even in the middle of a rep or set.(something so small as a drop of sweat on my forehead can completely divert my attention). When on said combo of "medications" I am able to lock in and enter the "zone". My mind is able to foccus on the muscle in action without noticing someone walking around in the mirror or unintentionally concentrating on what people around me are talking about while I'm in the middle of a set. I also have greater nuero-muscular efficiency and decreased nuero-muscular inhibition, so my strenght is increased. If I could so it naturally I would, but only those with severe ADD may be able to grasp where I'm coming from on this. It is a serious impediment to everything one does and the only way I've found to bypass it is through medication. I do not smoke much at all. Two to three rips and I'm sufficiently "enhanced" without becoming lethargic and discordinated. It works for some and not for others, but on a performance enhancement board I think we need to keep an open mind to all the can enhance performance. And for some canabis does that.
 
Fuck pot! You are supposed to be intense in the gym not laid back. If you are going to sit around getting high before working out than you don't belong in the gym. Stay home and listen to pink floyd.
