a comparison :)

2)The century which the black death occured was the -------- century.
probably in the 1700's, they were always dying back then - that would be the 18th century

3)the years 1301-1400 are the ------------th century.
well it is 2001 now and we are in the 21st century, so you can take the first two digits and then add one and you get the century - so the 1300's would be the 14th century

4) The industrial revolution began in this country:---------
yes. fuck if I know - I would think America, but I'm from America, so I have a very ethnocentric view biased towards the states. or england. more likely america though - steam engine and the assembly line, that cottin gin (Eli Whitney) and such.

5) the year 1517 is a notible year becasuse of ------------
all the digits are odd.... fuck if I know - this stuff is all "things you'll never need to know in the real world"

6)The type of art most closely associated with the counter reformation is --------------
Baroque - fancy stuff. I Was an art major, I'll kick your as on this shit.

7) He found the society of jesus...he was who?
fuck if I know - jesus talk don't get my attention none.

8) The church judicial body tried to get heretics to recant, but if they were unsuccessful, the turned their victims over to civil authorities for torture or worse. This ecclesiastical body was known as the --------------------
fuck if I know, but it sounds an awful lot like the spanish inquisition

9) he sent johann texel to germany to preach and raise money for the sistine chapel. this pope was who?
I thin kthat was Pope Sixtus IV della Rovere - fuck though, I don't know - I know it was Michangelo that painted the ceiling.

I don't do essays

It reached Cyprus late in summer 1347. In Oct. 1347, a Genoese fleet landed at Messina, Sicily. By winter it was in Italy. January 1348, the plague was in Marseilles. It reached Paris in the spring 1348 and England in September 1348.

The years 1301-1400 are the 12th century.

4) The industrial revolution began in this country:England

5) the year 1517 is a notible year becasuse of ? discovery and conquest of mexico? Martin Luther? Reformation?

6)The type of art most closely associated with the counter reformation is Baroque???

7) He found the society of jesus...he was who? St. Ignatous of Loyola

8) The church judicial body tried to get heretics to recant, but if they were unsuccessful, the turned their victims over to civil authorities for torture or worse. This ecclesiastical body was known as the Inquisition

I sued to know many of these, I do know that the black death wasn't the 17th century, it was earlier Im pretty sure, ughhh now these questions are going to bug me

YOU MAY WANT TO DOUBLE CHECK, BUT HERE I GO

I AM A COLLEGE GRAD, BUT NOT IN THIS, BUT ILL TRY

The industrial AND agricultural revolution started in Britain. With the enclosure movement and rapidly growing populations, rural workers moved to the city to try their luck. The industrial revolution was fueled by the agricultural revolution (population, workers willing to work longer hours for lower pay and many more).

I can go into great detail. I took a 4 hour exam on this shit 2 semesters ago.

Hope I helped.

looks like y'all got 'em all...and yeah, 1517 was luther and his 95 theses.

i don't know #9 either.

Satanic.....I do use my brain. The problem is that someone stole my art book at the library the other day and it has put me in shit creek with no padle. And my knowledge of art is very very limited. Plus I'm down to $12.50 cant afford to get another book. Maybe I should go to the library and steal someone elses art book :)

Francis Bacon thought Aristotle , an ancient philosopher, wasn't an authority to consult if one needed scientific knowledge.

you know, the usual, strip, sell myself on the street, sniff pencil shavings. I tell everyone that I'm a computer programmer, but it is all a lie that I live.
a lot of these questions should be answerable via a good net search on google.com - just put in the right key words and something is bound to come up - AND you might learn something (careful though, that can hurt)

1) European expleration began in the century when, for example, the first african slaves were brought to portugal...Whicg century?
http://debate.uvm.edu/dreadlibrary/mclean.html

2) The movement within the Roman Catholic Church to reform many of its practices is known as the ------------ reformation.
I remember well by soph year of high school, the teacher said in her thick southern accent "the chur hept issef whit da prostamation refamation on da stock do noppy."
I have NO FUCKING CLUE what she meant, but I remember that like it was yesterday b/c I asked her to repeat it in class and she said the exact same thing again. so I wrote it in my notes and it was etched into my memory. if you can get anything from that, I'd think it was something prot.... protestant perhaps? you never know.

3) --------- distrusts the power of art because of its tendencys to pull us in and make us think we see truth ( persons name)
nobody should trust art or artists. they are all a crazy lot. this is another good case for a web search since it looks like a quote.
I'll be they were either Russian or Indian though. they were the ones that didn't like art. and Hitler. he didn't either. although he stole a shitload of it and was a painter in his youth, but later he oppressed a shitload of expressionists.

4)The theology of ----------------- allows the living to ransom the souils of the dead.
don't mormons get to convert the dead to their religion? some shit like that? hence their huge family records of dead people. fuck if I know. again, web search.
sounds like Christianity or anything else to me, but I don't know religion from a hole in the wall.

5) DeVere, according to some, may be the true author known to most as ------------
Bootsy Collins. I don't know - probably Shakespeare since they are always debating that shit, and they will never really know.

6_ he wrote about Laura and the life of contimplation
I don't know, there was this girl Laura in some of my classes in high school that was pretty hot - I never wrote about her, but I sure contimplated doing some shit to her.
this sounds religious in nature again - what class is this? I tried to avoid classes that had religion in them. except for the religion classes. those I just avoided as a whole.
if it is midevial, there is a site about st theodore that has some of that shit:
http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/basis/theodore-sykeon.html

7) The history of the development of romantic love and art begins with -------------( a person) whose ideas about love were borrowed by some of the followers of ------------, a major world religion. far too many words for me to read that.

Francis Bacon thought ---------------, an accient philosopher, wasnt an authority to consult if one needed scientific knowledge.
someone alread answered this one.

The doctrine of the Euchartist ( the lodrs supper) which argues that it is to be an historical reenactment only ( "this due in rememberece of me") was put forth by the protestent reformer -------------------( a person)
this one has web search written all over it.plenty of good keywords like... well, all of them. and the quote esp

He covered the naked bodies in artistic creations because of the inherently conservative nature of the counter reformation. He was the --------------

one of the popes. many of the guys on the sistine chapel ended up with leaves over their units. a web search I'm sure will turn it up.

anyone else have some homework for the board?

number three is interesting... i'm going to guess immanuel kant but i don't think that's right. i'll see if i can find an answer for you...

hey don't knock artists emeri... i mean happyscrappy (only i can because i am one)!

hey wait did you say you have an art degree too? PM me!

Thanks boys...you have been a great help. I'm going to hit up the web search and see what i can find. Oh, this is a History through theater and art class.

ahh, theater and art. in the early stages it was controlled by religion, and in the later stages, like today, it is controlled by the gays.

no it's not gays so much as it is overrun with people with mental problems and other issues. i have had much first-hand experience with that... :(

i was thinking might # 3 be plato?

one of my profs was friends with... fuck, darwing a blank here... did photography, some of it pperverse towards the end... Maplethorpe. she said he was a nutjob.

my girlfriend's mother knew both Robert Rouchenberg (sp?) and Jackson Pollack when they were both in NYC. They are well known to be totally nutso cukoo - esp Pollack.

I've met Vito Acconci and he is obviously nuts.

the only artist I've met that didn't seem nuts was Tony Ousler. I suspect he must not be a very good artist since he isn't nuts. And Serra wasn't so weird either.

i saw the newest damien hirst show in ny... very interesting but another famous wackjob.

and hey i'm very much not a boy iwanna

I am in tears from reading happyscrappys responses...
rotflmao.

And I think I had the teacher that said this:
I remember well by soph year of high school, the teacher said in her thick southern accent "the chur hept issef whit da prostamation refamation on da stock do noppy."

hey happy have you ever seen that video where they interview francis bacon at a bar? sad but really funny as he gets drunker and drunker.
