First off 12iu the first time out is dangerous. Start with 2iu and work up slowly to 10iu. Next you need complex carbs (apple or oatmeal) one hour before your workout to start to fill your liver glycogen. Sip the dextrose and creatine drink through out the workout and for about 15min after. Slam the whey right after you work out. One hour later eat some lean meat (steak, chicken, or fish) and some complex carbs. I like apples. Have dextrose near by if you feel hypo and don't go to sleep for six hours after shooting Humulin-r. Do tons of research and have a good Glycemic Index chart. Insulin wil make you grow, but it'll also kill you if you are not safe.
