Oh, and I made an interesting discovery recently ... messed up hormones can equal massive amounts of severe chronic pain with no discernible cause. Apparently I've been on and off hypothyroid for like a decade or so, one of the symptoms was crippling joint pain. Just throwing it out there.

Are you still on the GH? That can cause crippling joint and tendon pain after a while too.

My chiropractor avoids manually adjusting necks, he primarily uses percussion tools, either a small "clicker" or an electric thumper thing. He has to do a manual adjust on mine once in a while when it goes out very high up (like C1 or C2) he can't get it to shift any other way.
You really should at least check out specialty pillows. I really think mine has stabilized my neck a lot (I have no lordotic curve in the cervical spine as well as DJD):

Actually I've come to terms with a life of permanent financial modesty.
In all fairness, I've only recently discovered that I've been majorly out of hormonal balance for the past ummm, 4+ years and it sort of ... well, makes me depressed, under the best of circumstances (to say the least).
That being said, most posts expressing my opinions dating from about 2009 or so should be taken with a grain of salt cause I've been pretty fucking nuts
