Actually, night terrors are diff. from sleep paralysis. People don't remember night terrors. Maybe u are talking about hypogogic sleep paralysis.bdog527 said:Sleep paralysis. I've had it before and it's no fun. Night terror is another name for the disorder.

No problem. I just unfortunately have a couple of sleep disorders.... so I have been schooled on the subject....bdog527 said:Good point. I wasn't aware that Night Terrors were not the same thing.

Sounds good.BrothaBilly said:Ive never heard of hypnogagic sleep paralysis but when I studied sleep in univ. there is the hypnogagic state that you fall into and its from what I can recall a false state of dreaming and you are aware of it for the most part, this differs from the rem state of dreaming. This is where you can do lucid dreaming and control your dreams. So my guess he is in the hypnogagic state and realizes he is dreaming and in a state of lucidity. People can master this state of lucidness and fly around and morph and do all sorts of interesting stuff. He just needs to read about it and practice it. I think its common what he is describing, it happens to me.

No problem. I did theBrothaBilly said:Whats with the rolledeyes?? I was merely elaborating on your point of hypnogagia. You brought it up, I was just adding to your point, I wasnt trying to put you down if thats how you took it. I thought since you knew the term hypnogagia we could intelligently discuss it and that was my take on your point, not that I was right or wrong, just from what I can recall from what I studied in university like years and years ago. Ive never heard of hypnogagic sleep paralysis, I didnt say it didnt exist
medicj said:No problem. I did thebecause u put a TON more info than I did. That's all.

medicj said:I also had to take some undergrad psych but we didn't go THAT far. I just know a little about the hypnagogic/hypnopompic junk because my doc says I have that hypnagogic crap BAD when my insomnia gets out of control. I have really bad insomnia.
I had to learn EVERYTHING about strokes. I'm a paramedic.I also spent some time in my uncle's EEG lab. He's a neurologist. As for being in bed with someone I love for a good night's sleep:He's in Iraq for now so maybe I will give that a try at a later date.BrothaBilly said:Ahh, well I wasted alot of time as cognitive psych researcher for a couple of years and we discussed that stuff then later in my cardiovascular lab in San Luis Obispo I did a three month rotation and the EEG lab was part of the lab and we discussed it there and brainwaves and intracranial dopplers b/c it was mainly a neurological hospital but opening up a openheart and cath lab and cicu and neonate ward so we learned as much as we could and then quickly forgot it. Had to learn vascular as it was 60% vascular and the intracranial vasculature and what parts of the brain it feeds and strokes and symptoms like Broca's area for speech and brainwave eegs. So Im educated beyond my intelligence. As for insomnia, same here, Ive tried everything. I think the only thing that cures insomnia is being in bed with someone you love and synchronizing heartbeats, breaths and taking in their pheromones. Thats the only way to get to sleep.
