Sink problems?

So my sink is starting to clog up, the one in the kitchen. Ran some drano through and it seemed to be ok, but when the dishwasher is on the sink starts to back up again.. Getting ready to call a plumber but I thought I'd run it past you guys and see if anyone might have some cheap tips to try first.. any ideas?

#1 this is on the wrong board. lol jk

Throw a snake in there. Those hand snakes that you wind up manually, you can either rent one or buy it at a Home Center. Most of the time it`s not that far down, in this case it`s probably just past the point where your dishwasher and sink drains meet. You`ll have to determine how far down that is by physically looking at their location.

Just make sure you get a snake that isnt too thick, the thicker the snake the less likely it will make it past any bends or elbows in the piping. You should probably take the trap off your sink and go in through the normal pipe. If those are the only two things backing up the clog/blockage is most likely in the spot where those two meet as gonelifting said. If you have other things backing up in the house its most likely in ur main pipe going out to the street .
