Was this a joke? It started out as a mistake when people would let go of the shift key a split second before the '1' key and get !!!!1. Sure, after a while people used it as a joke, just to be funny. Some crazies even did this GO!!!1one1!!1!! to be even more witty.

The VIN number and ATM-machine isn't really the same.

So either you made a mistake above or it was a joke. Everyone makes mistakes.
