Simpsons go on strike!

That show still rules....and they will get the money....Simpsons generates a huge amount of money for Fox!

Much like Chaos Mage 's posts, they were funny at first, but now they suck.

I liked the episode where Homer got drunk, couldn't remember where he parked his car and the following day, woke up, found out that his furniture was not delivered because Bart told the store to keep it because Dad loses things.

just get new voices to imitate the old ones. Kinda how they did new muppet movies when jim henson died.

Doubt it. Fox and fox news isn't doing anything on it.

Hoax. People are so fucking gullible.

Nah. It's a legit news article on a few sites. They have been striking.

I heard about it this morning on sports talk radio, although it could be a prank. Simpsons owns all and they get less than a mill a year?
Those bozos from friends get 1,000,000 an episode!

>Those bozos from friends get 1,000,000 an episode!

Those bozos actually *act*. Get up in wardrobe. Appear on talk shows. Do appearnces for promotion. Workout and look good. Get plastic surgery. Stay out of trouble and get arrested. Do charity causes. Work with their agent to make sure their 15 seconds aren't up. Spend up to 18 hour shifts for just one episode or movie. Do off-location shoots. Acting is not an easy job.

Voice-overs are a joke. Script is written -- show up. Do your voice. Go home and pig out and watch television. $360k for THAT???

Shows become popular because of the writing. Lately, Simpsons is getting so freakin' stale and predictable. The whole show is based upon ONE funny character -- Homer. He's alreayd beyond played out.

That's why Family Guy is sooo damn refreshing!

btw: they have voice processors now to help "simulate" a voice if necessary.

Buuullll shit dude. You think any of those gay ass friends characters has more talent than the guy who does the homer voice?
You live in a sick and twisted world, and I want no part of it.

Simpsons should have been canceled at least 2 years ago. Family guy should be reintroduced this season.

Pay me $150,000 and i'll do Homer's voice! I do it all the time as i walk around the office goin "D'oh!" :)

Actually voice overs are not a joke (I would imagine you never done..)....It is not like they just go in a talk and they are out in 5 minutes...takes just a bit more time and work. It would be like me never fixing a car saying..ahhh mechanics go in and throw a transmission on the car and go home and pig out....when I really have no idea how much work and times goes into it. Really ignorant comments.

The Family Guy was ok and had shit ratings. They do plan to reintroduce it but it will probably die soon after.

The issue is the same issue that is happening with Seinfeld. The creators got syndication money (the big money-Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David make about $200 million a year and the show has been off the air for about 6 years) and the actors in the show got no future money so they wanted $500k for the last two season and eventually got it-Seinfeld without a George, Elaine and Kramer would have been shit.....Matt Groaning (Creator & Developer), Sam Simon (Developer) and James Brooks (Developer) are the only ones who do make big money--the actors only make about $150 per show-to you that is a lot- but unless you live in LA (which it looks like you do) and are an actor-you have no idea it is like...They deserve it because they worked many years for shit money. The Simpsons still get great ratings for Fox and make a shit load for the Fox company. The actors deserve the cash-and most likely will get it.

And they cannot replace actor voices with vioce processors.....it is against the unions rules and this was actually done in Back to the Future. Crispin Glover was the dad in Back to the Future. He could not come to terms to appear in BTTF 2-so the producers decided to use old footage and voice processor-they were sued and Glover was awarded an ton of cash. Since then, this rule has been strictly enforced....

It can be done. If the contract is over -- it's open game. Plus if they outsource it (like they do animation) there are no "union" rules.

Voiceover isn't easy work. But then again, it's also not $360,000 per episode work. Just because your contribution to the project is on air, and the makeup artist's 12 hours of non-stop work isn't so visible -- doesn't *guarantee* a right to hold production companies hostage. I do agent work, and having a talent pull a stunt like that -- is the quickest way for a production company to boycott your agency and tell you to screw off.

voice over's are not *actors* according to SAG definition btw.

Most voice over folks, radio, tv, movies, cartoons etc. folks -- actually make shit money.

What these folks don't undersatnd is. In almost 90% of the sitautions where stars demand big bucks. The networks almost ALWAYS put that show near the top of the "cancel at first opportunity" list cuz production costs are so huge. Seinfeld cost a lot of money. Guess what -- got cancelled within a few seasons. Friends -- same things. Roseanne? Ditto.

What's happening (from my experience) -- is that when talent sense that a series is probably on it's last few seasons -- they try to rape out as much cash as possible before it bows down. It's basially a scenario of "Let's just grab as much as we can. It's gonna get cancelled soon anyways, so why not?".

Trust me. They're not asking that much cuz they expect it to be on another 10 years.

Ever wonder why SNL keeps shuffling new talent every couple seasons? Keeps their production costs down before their talent start getting big heads.
