Side bends??

Currently im doing one set of 20 reps on each side with 45 pounds of side bends. My questions is should I be doing anything for my love handles. I have a relatively small waist right now and would like to keep it that way for good. I def want to achieve a v taper and not have a big waist ( with abs) would much rather have a very slim one as it makes you look a whole lot better can anyone help me if I should continute the side bends do more? do none?

If you want a small waist I would stop doing side bends completely. I believe they will just increase the size of your obliques which will give you a wider looking waist. If you want to work the obliques do some light russian twists on the decline bench, it will also hit the intercostals.

russian twists work the obliques to so how is it logical to say that side bends are out completely but they are in?
really tho I doubt anyone will ever accidentally get their obliques so big their vtaper is drastically off

so should I do them or no?

I dunno really I thought maybe since im a body builder so I should train every muscle group........ But then I read somewhere it will just make you loook wider and I dont want that

Losing the love handles is all diet bro.... I say drop the sidebends and the twists if you want to keep your waist small.

I wouldn't work obliques directly

They work mostly to stabilize other lifts -- almost never as a prime mover

Working them may make you look blocky in the waist

Well, I suppose it really doesn't matter what kind of squats. I just imagined a hard 20 rep set would work the midsection a little harder than a 4 rep.
