ANYONE HERE ABOUT PEOPLE PUTTING SHUTTLE DEBRIS ON EBAY ONLY A FEW HOURS AFTER THE INCIDENT??? APPARENTLY, PEOPLE WHO FOUND DEBRIS THIS MORNING ARE TYING TO MAKE SOME MONEY. SICK FUCKS!!!

IT WAS ANNOUNCED ON A FEW NEWS STATIONS HERE. IF ANYONE FINDS A LINK, POST IT UP.

I just saw one auction, 10K minimum bid, a guy in Dallas was going to go out and find debris and was going to sell it.

It got taken down pretty quickly. The bid was up to 90K for each of 50 pieces. sick bastards.

Maybe Cditty knows the answer to this, but isn't the shuttle (or what's left of it) property of the US government? Can the people selling the debris be cahrged with theft or something?

Or do salvage rights applly? :confused:

They could be charged with something, but more than likely they'd just confiscate the stuff.

Technically speaking, you cannot blame the beast for what it does when you created it.

Basically, the US promotes the exploitation of any situation for profit (globally speaking) so why be surprised when it is done in this case?
 
The US govt. will be confiscating any and all pieces of the shuttle for evidence purposes. The govt. will use all evidence to piece together what happened and how the shuttle blew up.
 
These folks will be prosecuted and I hope to the maximum extent!!

This is government property as is part of an investigation.

People are told not to extract the wreckage from the ground. If they do, they could face serious health hazards.

I say let the professionals do the work.

The local cop car at the precinct was paid for by your taxes. Does that mean you can walk by, grab the keys and take off with it and sell it on ebay? Hey, it's "my car i paid for".

The technology is constantly changing and the world needs the best equipment.

The United States is exploring new frontiers and making advances in scientific research. Russia has also had a great history of space exploration.

I know you're Canadian, and it's hard for you to understand...but yes, most of us Americans DO care about a Shuttle that explodes.

That little "melted piece" you're talking about, could be the one part that caused the whole destruction. NASA needs all parts to put together and understand what happened. The LIVES of future astronauts is more important than the $20 you can get on ebay for that "melted piece of metal".

Either way, in the US, tampering with evidence is VERY illegal. And i hope these golddiggers get the book thrown at 'em.
