***I realize this would best be put in the health section, but considering only 3 posts have been responded to in the past 2 weeks, I'd rather put it here where some good people could see it and respond.***

Hey guys. I realize no one here is a doctor. Just wondering what type of doctor I should be contacting about for this issue.

My shoulders have been hurting for a while. Doesn't feel like the bones or tendons or what not, but the muscle. but who knows. its almost hard to tell.

i used to get some pain while lifting. now its not so much pain. i work at a sports store. even picking up the football and throwing it hurts. not bad. just uncomfortable. lifting makes it uncomfortable too. pullups kill my shoulders. i started incline barbell press and that was killing my shoulders, not allowing me to lift to the fullest extent.

i have health insurance, so i'd like to get this checked out. ideas?

Rotator Cuff/Bursa/Labrum. One, or combination of the three.

A Dr. will probably recommend physio, give your some anti inflammatory meds, tell you to stop doing things that bother it, and maybe schedule you for an MRI.

If it was my shoulder, I would start taking Naproxen or Ibuprofen and stop doing things that bother it. I would also work on strengthening my scapular muscles, and stretching what is tight, probably the pectorals.

Check this out too!

I'm not a doctor but I've had tendonitis in both shoulders and ultimately a torn rotator and labrum.

if it only hurts doing movements, probably tendonitis. Work legs for a few months and you'll end up stronger. Tendons need more time than muscles.

If it hurts all the time it could be a tear (dull nagging pain, weakness, etc.)
