I do.

There's a little "TheSalami" in all of you - you're just afraid to let him out.

i havent read this entire thread, so forgive me if i say anything ignorant

but every school ive ever been to in texas has ALWAYS given corporal punishment!!!
the past few years, the student generally gets to choose between corp. punishment OR some other non-violent punishment such as several weeks to several months of AEP (alternative education placement) or being expelled , depending on what happened.
AEP makes most kids rejects after a period of time .

Most students at the beginning of the year are given a general statement that their parents can designate whether or not their child can be paddled or not. I always begged my parents to sign that, but they refused . their philosophy was if the option was still open for punishment than i would be less likely to do anything wrong.

WELL corporal punishment SUCKS but it still happens ALL THE TIME at least in Texas. I would throw a fucking FIT if anyone touched me. Even self defense in school is now considered worthy of punishment. WTF!!

There have been some very excellent coments to this thread and I agree w/ all the positive. I for one believe that if paddling is something that the PARENT wants the school to do then that is that parents choice, personally my child is young for school rihgt now, BUT when and if the time comes I believe that my children will not have to be disciplined at school. They will know what I will do when they get home.

Talk about painful mental stress...
Waiting for your Father to get home...damn

And Yes, there is a little of TheSalami in me and I AM afraid to let it see the light of day..

I think Texas has one of the worst murder rates in the country. Is it simply coincidence?

For those that think schools should paddle, try searching "spanking" on Yahoo and see how many pornographic sites come up. After seeing these sites do you really want some stranger spanking your pubescent child? I was serious when I said the principal that paddled me had to beat off afterward. This should be considered sexual assault.

Private school??? Not everybody can afford a private school......thats a sure fire way to make sure the poor stay uneducated and the rich educated. Do you consider this a good thing?

yes i do consider it a good thing. thats why parents work hard to make money to give their kids an advantage over people without money. its capitalism as i see it.

you people are making it as if im saying teachers arent important. they are very important. however they are also very easy to come by. anyone can take a few education courses in a low end college and become a teacher. that is why they dont deserve a high salary. also the risk of getting shot is so friggin small that those who are using that are really reaching for anything they can. sure a teacher explained to me how to do algebra and geometry, but any idiot could have. the teacher doesnt do much beyond that. some try to go the extra mile but its not necessary.
