Should I use Waxy Maize while cutting?

This is more of an 'insulin' specific question. Would using high glycemic products (Waxy Maize) for PWO recovery be counterproductive while trying to simultaneously lower body fat levels?

Thanks,

Waxy Maize is NOT High Glycemic nor does it produced a big insulin spike.

Right now I am using both the WM and Glucose post workout on my TKD and I am losing fat at an expedited rate. There's no problem as long as our workouts are intense.

Verdict is still out on whether or not I really need the carbs post workout... but I'm keeping them for the time being.

If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Very true... But I keep wondering what if dropping the post workout carbs would make me 5% or 10% more efficient at burning fat... Then I realize when I drop the post workout carbs after a week a look flat until my carbup, then I look flat again. It's a catch 22. Luckily I have only 1 more month of extreme cutting (providing i hit my goal).

Go by the ketostix. If you are in ketosis that night (night of your workout) then all is well. If you are not, then you are taking in too many carbs (e.g. cut out the PWO carbs)

You want to refill muscle glycogen. After stores are full, you runneth over into the stomach and ass (so to speak). Like you said, if your workouts are intense (ie depleting glycogen) then things are good.

I'm doing a TKD right now so i know exactly what you're after. Good luck bro.

Good advice. Play around with different carb sources and see which one works best for you.

I'm eating my PWO meal as I type. I had 50g of whey isolate as I left the gym. Now I'm eating one cup of oats mixed with one cup of frozen blueberries, splenda, whole milk, and one scoop of whey iso/micellar casein blend. This is the best pwo combo I have found. My blood sugar does not drop like it does with dex/malt/wms and recovery is great.

I do get right back to keto that night for sure. Even if I test it a few hours after my workout, I am still pissing trace amounts of ketones.
