Should I charge my neighbor?

He came up to me today for some electrical work in his bathroom. He`s got 3 lights/fans and 3 switches he needs ran from the breaker and installed while the sheetrock is off. He also wants a second line for a dedicated GFCI outlet. I told him I would do it for free but he insisted on paying me. I really don`t want that and p most likely won`t accept anything from him. He`s a good guy and a good neighbor. He reminds me of Flanders from the Simpsons. lol He even looks like him, mustache and all.

Anyway, it might not even take me a day to do it, I have`nt seen the place yet. Any suggestions, is this not just a neighborly thing to do?

PS I`m not in that line of work anymore so it`s not like he called my business line and I gave him an estimate and stuff.

let him take you out to dinner or if there is something he/his wife cooks or makes that you especialy like ask for that. sounds like he doesnt want you to think he is taking advantage so give him a gracful way out. (you both sound like good neighbors...any houses for sale on your block)

He`s a corrections officer but I think he`s going or has already gone for a police or trooper position. He`s always driving a police car with "Sheriff" on it. Don`t know if that`s his or what.

He`s got 2 boys almost college age I think. Damn I remember they were selling lemonade not too long ago on their sidewalk. His wife.... is a nice person. They`re like 40-50, not sure.

He actually does construction on the side as a business. Not electrical I guess.

Seriously, if it were easy, I would just say I did`nt want anything but for some reason I think that`s insulting to tell someone, that you`ll do it for free.

He`s the house diagnally across from me, the guy directly across got a 3k estimate for work and asked me if it was an OK price, I told him I`d do IT for free. lol This was about a year ago and I have`nt heard back from him.

Maybe words getting around that I`m easy. lol jk They`re really cool people, I`m SOOO happy to have them as neighbors because I know it could be much worse. Appreciate what you have, my friends! Don`t cry when you lose something and wonder "what the hell happened?"

damn dude-wish u lived by me! the only thing i can suggest is that if u offer to do it for free do the job well and on a timely basis unlike my looser friend that suggested i buy all this hvac equipment that he'd install 4 free. well that was 3 months ago and i had to call a contractor in to finish it and he got mad. heh-ur the 1 that said youd do it i didnt beg 4 it and besides dude---its like almost cold ouut now! prick. now we dont talk cause he had his pride hurt. well fuck u im cold and 8k worth of equipment sitting around collectin dust does me no good. perhaps im too old fashioned but goddamit if u agree to help someone fucking do it. ive never shafted anyone like that. plus he shortchanged the system that ill have to redo as sonn as im able. perhaps im just fucked in the head cause i sure dont understand people. and btw--i tried handing this guy a check and he wouldnt take it. made my wife totally rearrange the living room cause he wanted to work in that area then changed his mind and living rm been fucked for 2 months so told wife just put the shit back and ill deal with it later. and u know what? the friends that didnt offer to help but showed up and did only a little---i have no problems with them. i hate people that say ill do this and that and never do.

Well, I finished the job.

I found out last night that she (nighbor's wife) just go breast implants. When I was working there during the day and her husband was at work, she was home because she just had "minor surgery". Now my wife tells me that she told her it was from a breast augmentation.

The plot thickens...

I have a brother in law that is in construction(framing) and he had his whole huge back room and full size wet bar done using this method of sharing skills..

Plumbing, electrical, concrete, roofing..
All he did was return the favor on what he could do for them.


I wish I had some skillz other than people wanting me to fix the PC when they F@C% it up..

LOL It probably took me 3-4 hours in the two days I went there. I wired it first, then had to come back after sheetrock and paint, tile, to install fixtures and switches, receptacles, breakers.

It's very easy work and I like doing it, so it's all good. He asked if I would work on his brother's house. Slightly bigger job. I declined.

Wait, I think his brother's wife is hot! What did I do?
