Should I Bulk Then Cut, Or Cut Then Bulk?

Ok bros, this is my problem. I am 5'11", and 220 lbs. I believe i have some muscle but i also have some considerable fat too mostly in my gut. I want to look good for the summer, but i am afraid that if i try to cut, i will lose alot of fat and i will look skinny. I don't know if most of my weight is fat or muscle. My question is, is it better to get lean even if it means looking skinny, then cut(definition), or try to gain some more mass, then cut? Please give me answers!

i say build the house before you paint it........being cut is cool but i would rather have some bulk then look real skinny.......since you are 220lbs - thats good size but like you said considerably fat. try a cycle that will hold onto alot of size while not getting to skinny. i would go with a fina/eq combo myself. goodlcuk bro

I say since you think you have a considerable amount of fat you should go with a cutting cycle. I think you will be much more pleased with the results. I am also 5'11 but i only way 180 with very little fat. I need to bulk. What i am trying to say is if you were to lose just 10-15 lbs of the fat you have think of how much better you would probly look. You gotta understand that fat covers much more space than muscle. So losing 10-15 lbs is a whole lot of fat man. My opion is youwould look much better with a cutting routine for the summer. It much more inpressive than big powerlifting physique.

diet first...trust me. Lean down to decent weight. Forget a cycle...just add cardio in the a.m. and eat clean and lift intensely. You'll look good for the summer and drop some weight. Don't worry about getting cut, just lose fat and rev-up your metabolism. Then bulk...you won't be afraid to eat big, you're metabolism will be flying from cardio that you did all summer and the weight you gain while bulking will be more evenly distributed than if you were to bulk now.

Yes! These are the answers i appreciate. But i need more answers. By the way karma for you gimp.

Cut it up Bro'...Lift heavy and hard, not 1-RM mind you, but 4x5 sets as heavy as you can. I would use fina/Eq/winny to get strong lean and vascular. You'll love the results if you push hard every day!

Cut man!!

Although cycles can add muscle and lose fat, i.e Tren based kinda stuff. And by and large you don`t really have to do anything else. It isn`t good to add muscle, fat and water on a lot of fat and water already. Which is what a lot of guys do when they bulk. But as I said this isn`t really necessary.

I would advise getting rid of that fat! A fat body does not put on muscle well, insulin insensitivity etc. And its good to be lean and then build, know where u are. Why don`t you get your bf tested, then work how how much of you is fat?

I think to many people make the mistake of trying to be cut all the time. That is why you see so many guys that are taking extreme amounts of AAS's and look just slight above the average lifter. Think about this,,, it takes years to build mass and only a few months to get cut. If you try to stay cut year round your gains are going to be minimal. I agree that you should build then polish it up. Ask yourself do you want to be big or be beautiful,,, which is it???

i say dump the fat first, see what you got and go from there. at least you will know where you stand and look your best over the summer...........NO MATTER HOW BIG YOUR MUSCLES ARE if they are hidden by fat you will be seen as a fat fuck even if you are anything but

I say you clean up your diet, get on a good supplement program. A decent cycle, and go from there

You can BUILD muscle and LOSE fat at the same time.

The quickest way to burn a candle is to burn it on both ends

it is summer bro, time to cut. Big and fat is better than fat, but its bathing suit season. I tried bulking once during summer, worst summer ever for picking up trim

I also tried bulking once in May......looked like a bloated pig all summer long.........will never do it again. I always cut in the summer and bulk in the winter.......its easier for me to eat a lot more in the winter. I malso think a person who says weighs 205 with 8%bf looks bigger and better than someone who weighs 225 with 14% bf. I remember a friend of mine in college a few years back......was so cut and trim he looked like he walked out of a mazagine cover and he only weighed 190......say him a few years later at 220 and he looked a lot better lighter.
