i believe that the best qualified person for a job should get that job period. giving jobs or academic admission to the less qualified only weakens the institution, the city, the state, and our country. sure there are positives to this rule, but the negatives far outweigh the positives.

can you imagine if basketball or hockey had some type of affirmative action rule where there needs to be an equal number of black, white, hispanic, and asian players? lmao! obvsiously the games would not be as competitive.

actually, NFL Europe has a rule like that. They require a certain amount of players must come from the country the team plays in. BUt otherwise, you are right!

the basic premise of Affirmative Action assumes that in EVERY situation minoritities will be discriminated against. It assumes that every time a white male is in a position of authority, he will use the position to oppress a minority.

Affirmative Action at its core assumes guilt before its proven. Isnt one of the founding idea of this country "innocent until proven guilty" ?

Affirmative Action is as racist as you can get.... it automatically assumes a negative behavior in a specific race and sex and that the behavior will always exist.

Its wrong on so many levels. The worst part is that its used against white males. Go to any college, civil service or government office and see the overwhelming majority of minorities working there... IN SPITE of the fact that white males STILL make up the VAST majority of qualified applicants.

One basic fact that people fail to see is that affirmative action counts the entire pool of each race to determine balance.... unfotunately... such a small percantage of blacks and mexicans lack the basic educational or job requirements to fill these positions that they are almost guaranteed a job with minimal experience.

A white male has to be so overqualified to even be considered for many of these positions (i.e college instructor).

and dont give me that shit about them not having equal opportunities for education.. if you're a minority they line you up for grants and loans..... and NEVER ONCE in any class registration did they ask me what race I was.... but how many blacks or Mexicans did I see in 3 years of Calculus, Chemistry and Engineering??? ONE.

A scolarship for blacks only... a scholarship for mexicans only...

If someone started a scholarship for whites only... they would get fried in the press.

They CHOOSE not to pursue relevant degrees and study simplistic subjects in Liberal Arts programs.... then are practically guaranteed a job because they are one of they VERY few minorities with an education.

wrong son, norway has a higher percapita income when converted to US dollars, BUT the buying power of that dollar in Norway is far less than it is here. The US is the wealthiest nation per capita with the most access to goods and services. The US also has the most opportunities to raise that income.
