short term educational opportunities

What all certifications can you get that enable you to obtain a job that pays above minimum wage.

Right now i am working on my degree & don't want to make minimum wage, i'd rather make $9 or so an hour.

I've looked at CNA (certified nursing assistant) they make about $8 an hour, but the job description is disgusting. However, to train you only need about one month of classes. one month classes = $8 an hour, 0 months classes = $5.15 an hour.

Basically, what all jobs are there where you only need a few months of education to obtain that pay $8 or so an hour.

Where do you live? I would think you could find many $8 an hour jobs with no certifications required. I got $9 an hour working at a car dealership when I was 17.

I'd probably need to work 3rd shift though, but it isn't necessary. I don't know of anyplace other than a factory or hospital that hires 3rd shift for $9 an hour.

I live in indiana, near a couple mid-size towns (40k people in 1, 80k in the other). All the jobs i've seen are service jobs that pay minimum wage.

here come the jokes about me being poor.

people tip 15% out of obligation, even if you suck. that is if they are white (this is not meant to be a racist comment, ask anyone who has ever waited)

why do you say that, because of tips?

don't you need nice breasts in order to get tips.

Most restaurants have a tip pool, meaning all the servers combine their tips and it's distributed evenly. I guess you could call it culinary communism.

You could tutor younger kids. Most learning centers that tutor charge $30/hr min. You could charge $15 bucks an hour + .50 a mile for gas since you'd have to do it out of people's homes.
