Shooting a LA X airport..

I was criticizing the media all week because they were mostly talking about how we were all going to be in horrible fear and not wanting to partake in normal 4th of july activities. I think that's a bunch of nonsense. I don't know anyone who stayed home today out of fear of terrorists etc.

What the hell else was it? How come they didn't open fire out front of Aer Lingus or Qantas?

so if someone shoots someone at an El Al ticket counter it's terrorism now? the identity of the shooter hasn't been released yet, has it?

That was a sad story and it's all over our news. But it's being overpowered by the media's hype that we're all going to die today.

they did not shoot in front of aer lingus because afaik they don't have an agent there - they do nto fly to lax, just ny, boston, chicago and dc,...
who else thinks its' silly to have a national airline whose name sounds like something that should be posted to the between the sheets forum?
my hubbie flew with United to DC today, told him to arrive early in the airport for the security checking at heathrow! My guess is the attack will happen on the 7th or 8th, when everyone is relaxing...

And let me ask you this, if it's just one guy who went nuts with no affiliation to any terrorist sect, would this act be considered an act of terrorism?

Weather it was a group he belonged to or an individual effort, it was a Muslim guy shooting off in an isreali airline. I dont think he knew any of the people he killed, he just wanted to make a point-terrorism

THe only reason he didn't kill more people was because an El Al security guard shot him dead. The guy had additional clips of ammo on him. Think he was going to stop at 2? Hell, in the Achille Lauro hijacking, they only off'd one crippled American. Maybe we should sweep that one under the rug as well.

A lot of you are talking as though America is in control of terrorism and since only 2 people died on July 4th, then it's all under control.
There most likely will be another large-scale act of terrorism in America and the security will be powerless to stop it, just as the Israelis are powerless to stop the suicide bombings.
As for the media overhyping the possibility of terrorism on July 4th, if i lived in America, i would want to be warned if there were specific threats of terrorism like there supposedly was.

TNB - That's a tough one, because I would have to say "no." Those kids weren't trying to make a political statement. This guy had pro-Muslim, anti-Israel propaganda all over the place, and 2 driver's licenses on him at the time. It really boils down to intent.
