Shoes or Supplements or Bands?

Well the holidays are over and I recieved some cash for chistmas instead of actual products (because you cant go wrong giving cash :) ).

I'd sorta like some weightlifting shoes since I squat rock bottom twice a week. Eleiko seems to be a popular shoe and it isn't that expensive, but I cant find a seller of Eleiko in the US, and Eleiko wants you to mail your credit card info to them in another country  Not to mention shipping is over 20 bucks.

So that leaves Adidas. Those are going to be like 90-110 bucks I think (depending on the style). I have a pretty hard time justifying buying a $100 pair of shoes that I will only wear when I workout. Thats like 4 hours a week.

Or, I could spend the money on supplements. I normally only take creatine and protein. ALA or r-ALA or andro or prohormones or something.

Another option would be getting some workout equipment like bands, a weighted jumprope, etc. How much do bands cost (I wouldnt need any really thick ones anyway). How much are they worth to my workouts?

I'm leaning more towards the shoes or nothing right now. I might just get one set of light bands and save the rest for buying protein.

I'd honestly go with protein first. You don't need grade A workout shoes. Sure, they may be clinically proven to be better, feel more comfortable etc., but half of it's in your mind.

I'd say get supplements, then the shoes. The bands aren't really necessary, and the weighted rope is about $20, which is nothing. You should be able to shell out enough for protein, a rope and some bands or another supplement. Let the shoes be their own big thing some time down the road. If you feel you desperately need the shoes though, then go with them.

I may just buy some bowling shoes and have the heels built up. There is an old fashion cobbler in town and I'm pretty sure he could put a wedge under them.

Buy a pair of chuck taylor's (converse) they are cheap, and a small set of bands, screw protein powder just eat,

bands would be cool to implement into your workout. WLing shoes too. i have a pair on the way (Nonerz to the rescue for Xmas). I was stoked! cant wait to try them. i cancelled my leg workout today to hold out til monday when they come! hehehe. supps are not a big deal. im not even thinking about supps right now, just getting my eating on track after the holidays. if you have the in check then supps maybe....but i prefer training aids instead.

Your foot arch muscles are gonna be sore and cramped until you wear em in :)

I prefer to spend my money on things that are solid and stay around, consumables - well once you take them what have you got to show for it?

i would buy the bands. lol all the powerlifters pushed the bands. not that we are biased. also protein powder is a waste of money imo.

Yeap I'm serious

ie choose between protein powder and bands I take the bands.
Will you get any bigger/stronger after finishing that protein powder? maybe/maybe not - its gone, you spent the money, what have you got to show?

With the bands, I could use them for years, they will serve far more uses - power, speed, strnegth, stretching etc

If you look at it as a one time purchase type of thing, then yes, you might not see anything from it. But over the long run, specialized equipment is not going to get you anywhere unless your "consumables" are also in place.

I too, would take the bands if I could only make a purchase once. But that is ONLY because I know that I have protein powder and a fridge full of food that stays stocked.

Bottom line, diet over special equipment anyday.
