Shaving with hand wash lotion

So, this morning after I showered I went over to the sink, took out my razor (mach 3), grabbed the shaving cream can, shook it and tried to squeeze some out into my hand. Shit!!! It was out! What to do now, do I not shave and go in with the hangover look? Do I shave dry (ouch)? Ahhh, hand wash lotion right beside the sink. I wet my face, put a little bit of lotion on a section of my face as I shave and you know what, not bad! It feels pretty smooth and no nicks or cuts. I wouldn't make it a daily pratice but good to know I have an alternative.

I heard once that you can use conditioner as shaving gel. The article was about waking up in a girl's apartment and using what you can of hers to get ready......or something.

I have shaved using bar soap; doesn't work so good.

Put a washcloth covered in hot water against your skin for about 30 seconds, you don't need shaving cream after that.

I read somewhere a long time ago that it takes 4 1/2 minutes for the hair follices to become completely saturated. I try to shave after showering.

I just use a little bit of shampoo. Shaving cream is a waste of money. Just another scam, IMO.

yeah but its 80 cents a can, a can will last you for 2 months. Shampoo is probably more expensive, but the price difference is negligible.

I think Edge and other popular brands are around $3 a can. I just take lather off of my head when shampooing and shave in the shower. But I see your point and you're right.

I have used liquid soap (like softsoap or whatever) works pretty darn good IMO and is super slick....

Any liquid body soap works very good also. I use that when I shave my bodyhair.

on a daily/frequent basis? Do you get any irritation?

I wonder if I should stop buying shaving cream and buy a big $5 refil of liquid soap instead?
