Change your platform, man. There's more to running for President than that.

Since the winner of the Dem Primary will need the black vote, all of these other candidates will play "gloves off" and try not to piss off Sharpton. They will try to pull black votes from him. For this reason you'll probabaly see John Edwards or Joe Lieberman speaking at an all-black church doing their best "Jesse Jackson" impersonation, thinking it will make blacks want to vote for them.

And folks wonder why I'm a Republican.

What pisses me off is how Sharpton tries to rile up communities of black folks. He talks to them like he is trying to convince a troop of cub scouts. It is almost degrading to listen to him speak. He speaks as if nobody listening to him knows what is going on around them.. as if HE is the one to break the bad news and the ONLY one who can fix the bad news.

Time magazine reported a while back that the Rev. Al Sharpton is planning to run for president in 2004 he said:

"I feel that the Democratic Party must be challenged in 2004 because it didn't fight aggressively to protect our voting rights in Florida," he said in a recent issue. "I think we need to look at running a black in the primary. I have said I would be available to do it."

Sharpton said the idea came to him while he sat under a tree in Sudan, which he visited in April 2001 on a fact-finding tour about slavery.

yeah.. Sharpton always seemed like an earthy type.. I could see him relaxing under a shady tree in Sudan after a loke hike through the hot grassy plains while watching wildlife.. or exploring the jungles of South America while on he is not stirring up racial tensions in cities across America.

Now, now. Think about it. If you are a Republican you should love Al. He will force the Democratic Primary to become a liberal-fest, leaving the emerging winner vulnerable to a conservative ambush in the general election.
