I never realised I did this till recently, but it has dawned on me over the past while.
Often I would start things and simply give up, I thought this was because I was lazy and didn't care, but really it was because I thought better to give up and not try at all than try and fail, I could tell myself "Oh I could have done it, I just didn't try" as a way of reassuring myself.
Part of this trait also means unless I am the best at something I don't want to do it, so unless I can easily grind the second best person's face into the dirt then I don't want to take part in an activity.
hmmmmm, now I realise this I still don't think I will do much about it
