setbacks setbacks..

i was hoping to compete again this year- i had to take some time off last year, but every time i get back into lifting heavy it seems, something else happens to set me back again.
for the past couple of months, my back has been bothering me again, and before that, it was my shoulder.
its frustrating as hell.
i keep saying i'll just use this time to drop a weight class, but i dont' feel like dragging my ass to the gym to do cardio if i can't LIFT. lol
i do it anyway, half heartedly.

i just got quite a nasty cold, but i think as soon as its better, I'll write myself out a game plan, even if its just cardio a few times a week and some light weights till i'm better.

Not sure what else to say except sounds good, good luck, and other generic encouragement you're probably sick of hearing.

Care to elaborate on the back problems? It's definitely something you should look into more if you haven't already (perhaps visit a chiropractor) since it's a detriment to pretty much anything you do in or outside the gym. Again, if you're not doing it already devoting a lot of time to core work during your cardio/light weights rehab would be a good way to go.

yeah, i will either do that or start going to the chiro again.
I had a problem with my back before- some time off, stretching, and anti inflamatories always help.
thanks for the encouragement!

Don't know what to tell you. I had a string of 3 separate injuries (shoulder, back, ankle) keep me out of the gym for over a year - each one occured just as I was getting back in and none had anything to do with lifting. The year before that I was out for a long time and before that it was a knee. Rediculous random accidents and injuries, all of them taking months to heal. Was pretty bitter and tired of it but there's a lot more to life than lifting and that kind of time off gives you some perspective and really makes you appreciate your health - espacially when you come back and are able to lift again.

So, enjoy life - keep your head up. Stay active and have fun. Be thankful for what you have. And something I find very entertaining at times, when no one is looking whip a 2.5 or a 5 pound plate at the guy squatting in the rack and see if you can take him out as he's coming out of the hole. Kind of like bowling with plates, bars, and bodies flying everywhere, plus misery loves company [just joking about this - figured you could use a laugh :)]

LOL...
thank you. and yeah- same thing with me- one minor injury or setback after the next. nothing that stops me from enjoying life, but its not letting me lift heavy.
I have taken time off- and honestly... i kinda enjoyed it, but now that i'm ready to get back to lifting, its annoying not to be able to.
the good side is, i can sleep late. :)
