i dont believe in pre-schedules workouts.

if on an 'off' day i feel really strong ill surely go pump.
alternatively, if on an 'on' day i'm tired, ill take that day off.

I agree bro ... but I do nees rest of between a few days to fully let primary muscles recover as they are slightly hit again in the next workout.

E.i. Here is my training spilt right now.

Sunday: Back/Tri's
Monday: Off
Tuesday: Shoulders/Calves
Wednseday: Legs
Thursday: Chest/Bi's
Friday: Off
Saterday: Off

After my Chest/Bi day ... there is no way that I would jump right into my back/tri day the next day. Just not letting bi's and tris recover enough form the chest and bi workout. Especially since I am not on right now. If I was on ... I would probaly wait 1 day between those 2. Plus it gives me Friday and Sat night free hehehehehehe

Cheers bro,
Mavy

hell satch as crazy as my life is I can't preset a schedule,,, lol,, I just get in when I can. I am sure you can feel the pain

I agree with this Satch, but then again, I am a real Mike Mentzer fan. So it is only natural that I would wait too until my intensity is REALLY there.

This is a good idea to a certain extent but it can also make you lazy if you tell yourself that you are tired and you will be better tomorrow. A lot of people will abuse this type of thinking and not accomplish much of anything

I often find that sometimes on my off days i'm so fired up that I must go to the gym.

I still never hit the same bodypart more than once every 5-6 days. Usually I hit everything once a week.

EXACTLT

I know from experience

I have a general idea of my schedule: everyday except Mon & Fri. If I feel good I keep going and If I feel bad I skip a day. I've been sick for 10 days so now I'm training EOD.

i'm the same way....though i've tightened it up more...

i finds that sometimes I go in feeling like crap, and have the best workouts

well I stick to a training schedule...I have a bit of OCD...I have to know whats going on that day as soon as my feet hit the floor...and they hit the gym quite early.

this is indeed a very good point.
but personally... if training every day wasnt catabolic i'd train EVERY DAY!!!

I think you need to find a balance, as with everything else in life. You need some sort of schedule, but of course it's not going to go exactly as planned all the time. You gotta adapt to the situation.

If you get too regimented, things like vacations and unexpected situations might throw you all out of wack...but if you're not regimented enough, you might not get the gains you're looking for as rapid as you would otherwise.
