I posed this ? on the diet forum as well...very crurious, and I know its been asked before.....Seriously, who here use the mary jane on a pretty routine basis......reason I ask, it just appears to me that many of our so-called "eating/training/need for a break habits" reflect those that use.........I may be wrong, but you can't put 100% effort into this game when your mind is elsewhere............cmon......fess up and prove me wrong..........

Never touched it...ever.

I know a lot of people that are down with it, but it honestly never held any interest for me

Alright, I confess that I use it, but it's never had a direct affect on me and the way I lift. I don't know about other people though. It helps me unwind from whatever stresses I have, or If I just want to feel good at times. I can still concentrate in school and keep myself focused.

i used to smoke, but i'd rather spend my time doing something productive now and spending my cheese on more food or things i actually need.....

I knew you weren't one to dabble, with a new baby and all......but, you know of some bros that use often? Am I wrong in thinking it's impossible to make gains when you use regularly?

i know people that use regularly that still make gains, they dont go to school though or work (im in college) and are usually just living off their parents

i don't use it but i can understand people that do. when i go out on weekends i drink (a lot). i'm just not willing to give up the simple pleasures of life all for training. that's not to say i don't put 100% effort in. just my 2 cents...

that's the reply I was looking for and appreciate the sincerity..........now, tell me your current stats and routine....just curious....bf% included.........

I'm pretty much in the same boat. I like to go out and drink on the weekends, and typically I'll smoke once a week on Fridays. Makes me feel guilty at times to know I'm keeping my diet 100% throughout the week then blow it to shit on the weekend with alcohol. But I'm not out to be a professional bodybuilder so I'm not going to give up everything for it. Sure makes it hard to get rid of the little tire, though.

I have never read that it will affect muscular gains. And you will eat more, as long as you only have healthy food around.

Actually some people have a 3 or 4 days/week split Jkurz, so if you smoked it on an off day it would be totally gone by workout time the next day.

I don't smoke much at all, a few times per year, but mostly because I just don't know any drug dealers. I think alcohol is much worse for you and your gains. At the same time, I get drunk every couple weeks.

I think people who do it everyday.. well people build up a tolerance to it like everything else.. so after awhile it's like having a beer after work.. not getting plowed.

alright bro here're my stats;
6'2"
205-210 pounds
bf; last time tested it was about 6% (caliper tests) but that was a good while ago and i was lighter then too. still, i'd say it's somewhere around 8%. i've posted a couple (shitty quality) pics in the member pics forum, they're not very clear though and don't really do me justice. sounds like a pussy excuse i know, but it's the truth.
here's my routine;

day 1; chest/delts
day 2 legs/calves
day 3 off
day 4 back/traps
day 5 tris/bis
day 6 off
day 7 off

all done in 5x5 fashion. ive been training for about 7/8 years now, never 'used' anything. well there you have it, the ugly truth LOL

oh i'd like to add to that, that i do agree with you that i could've made more gains, had i never drinked.

Where can you get caliper tests? Actually explain to me what a caliper is, for I am a rookie. :rolleyes:

you can get them at various gyms, i got mine in a really small, shitty health-club type gym. oh and calipers are kind of like prongs with which you can pinch your skin in order to measure bodyfat.

True about the 4 day splits, however, the last thing I want to be doing, or reccomend, is gorging yourself on off days..........much rather do it on days that I've trained....for sanity purposes, if nothing else
