Do you think that the bible is right in it's prediction that these are the last days ? (revelation) with all the Wars, floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, terrorist attacks, crazy diseases etc that is going on right now ?

or do you think that these events have always been happening throughout time and history is just repeating itself....... and the media just glorifies it so much now that we all freak out more !!!

what are your thoughts on this..... it is scary no matter what people say.

well, Mav, this topic is being discussed as a possibility more and more. i heard it a few times today at work. things are out of balance.....
 
i agree....our world and its priorities are very much out of balance....but then again as pointed out, thats historically the same....the thing that is different now is that everything good and bad that happens, is doing so at great speed....
however, the information that goes around is traveling at this great speed also. there are more people now than ever before, that in and of itself puts a tremendous strain on our worlds environments and social structures...there is now at this point and time- no time to heal and give back or remidiate mistakes....i think IMO we are circling the drain....
 
tsunami, katrina, earthquakes in asia..

guess mother nature doesn't like 3rd world/ghetto type people. damn her.

What disasters?
There have been more huricanes & quakes in the previous years

There more casualties because the overall population has increased in some region (Asia in particular)

and with the media coverage we hear of any disaster in any part of the World while we were only aware of what happened here a century ago

Someone on here said that people have been claiming that the world was going to end, ever since the bible was written. And it's true. The times are no different. The world is constantly changing. I'm w/ jack, we're lucky that we haven't had an asteroid, or have the earth open up create a fischer(sp?) the size of a country, and cause global destruction. I'll take hurricanes and earthquakes over that shit any day.
But of course I don't believe in the bible, so I take the scientific look at things.
 
Everyone bases these assumptions on personal experience, so they compare the times to previous times in thier lives. Ask someone who was around in 1976 and lived in China when an earthquake death toll measured in the 500's of thousands unofficially (Chinese Government reported 255,000), and they would differ in thier perspective. As would a volcano eruptee survivor in Martinique in 1902, killing 30,000. Not to talk about Bangladeshi flooding that kills thousands yearly.

What if the metorite that hit Siberia in 1908 would have hit NYC, London or Tokyo?

News seems more gripping to us now, because it doesn't take us two weeks to receive information in dribs and drabs. We get up close and personal with disaster as it actually unfolds. Hence, we are less objective about the rate of occurence of natural disaster.

We havent had a Tunguska, or a Pompeii, or an Atlantis.

We just bitch too much.
 
History is not even repeating itself. There has been much worse. There were earthquakes in China that killed over 500,000. There were tsunami's that were much worse than the last. Hurricanes? Hurricanes come and go in cycles tune into the weather channel. They said it would be a bad season a few years ago. There are about 4 seasons in a row that are bad then it dies down for a while. Killer diseases? Are you talking about the Bird Flu? They talked about that last year and nothing has happened since. Ebola was much worse, so was the Spanish Flu.

History is not even repeating itself because this is not as bad as it has been in history. It is the media coverage blowing it out of proportion.

Spanish flu was much worse than Ebola as far as total casualties or as a percentage of population killed.

Homeostasis. Balance. Nature.

Well, we have to start from the fact that every single religion has the seed of self-destruction inside. One example, "have all the kids God sends you" When we know that the main reason of today's mankind problems is overpopulation. There are several different key factors in religions that lead to humand destruction. That's why from the beginning, the end was predictible. All we have to do is eliminate medicine. Human population would drop to a one third in no time. That would be wonderful for mother nature. Even if I'm one of those who should die by natural reasons and leave those natural resources for a better specimen

Oh yeah I know. But they said if Ebola became widespread, several hundred millions of people would die. Wasn't the Spanish Flu 50 million in the world? Sure there were much fewer people in the world at the time. Also, the reason the Spanish Flu was so bad was because WWI was still going on. Hard to fight a pandemic when there is a world war going on.
