Serious question/Expert medical advice needed

Guys,

I have a friend that I lift with and he has been toying with the idea of taking gear. He has never touched the stuff before and is struggling to gain real size. He is about 6' and weighs around 185lbs. He is strong for his weight and has a bf% around 8, but has trouble putting on mass. The major concern he has is that he had open-heart surgery when he was 2 years old and still has a slight heart murmur. He is 25 now, has been lifting solid for about 6 years, and wants to try gear, but is unsure of the consequences. What would you guys suggest? Please, only serious answers to this one. Thanks!!

Tell him to get his diet in check first... Start eating more calories than maintenance ... I'd go with 3500-4000, If he doesn't start gaining then maybe gear... I've read a bucnh of times that test can be good for the heart..... bump for more opinions.

YUM

Thanks for the reply and I agree with you on the diet. He eats well, but sometimes I don't think he eats enough. Bump for more info.

If hes stuck at 185 and hes in the 8% range the solution is simple : He needs to eat more.

As for cardiac concerns he needs to discuss AS with a liberal cardiologist (who will of course tell him not to use AS for many reasons ). Anyone who tells someone with a history of cardiac trouble that they have the green light to use AS is nuts .

I dont think that Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy would be a good thing , in your pals case especially.

Probably not a good idea with pre-existing heart problems. There are a number of changes in the cardiovascular system as a result of AAS use and/or a function of the changes in muscle mass, blood volume, afterload on the heart, etc. If there are valve problems, they could get worse with changes in cardiac structure and function.

Sounds like this guy needs to eat more. At 8% it sounds like he is on a pre-contest diet.
