My grandfather is in the hospital, and he has pneumonia supposedly. He's coughing up blood, and my family said his stomach is huge and bloted today and it's all mushy to the touch. Anyone know what the deal is with this?

It sounds pretty severe. Pneumonia in older people can be very dangerous. Hope everything is alright. Get to the hospital if you can.

Pneumonia is very tough on older people. The reality is that many do not make it out of the hospital. Many of them will go into a coma and pass on. Coughing blood is not a good sign. He has a severe case of pneumonia. He likely has swallowed some of the blood bloating the stomach and he is likely retaining fluid (possibly CHF or Congestive Heart Failure) too. The best thing you can do is spend some time with him. I wish him and you nothing but the best for recovery.

PS: Karma is always welcome and repaid!

That sounded good until you belittled the situation by mentioning karma.

Burning Inside, hope he works his way through it. I reckon you would be better off talking tot he docs instead of the wannabe-experts on here.
