are you talking about online deals or store bought deals? wouldn't the cost of shipping offset the profit margin if you bought things for low cost online?
 
I read about some broad that would buy clothes at Ross and sell them on EBay. That was her only job and she made like 50k a year! I wonder if i could sell photos of my dick on there?

This can happen, but most places these days offer some kind of free shipping if you buy enough. Just look around. Another thing I do is use the coupon codes online to get the discount and then choose to pick up the product at the store. I know this can be done with BestBuy and Circuit City.

Here is another way to make some easy money.

Use Columbia House to get dvds. If you do everything right you can usually get a ton of dvds for about $9 on average. Then put them up on ebay. Easy money and works like a charm.
 
Use pics, otherwise you wont sell shit, talk everything up, charge 6.50 shipping for priority, then ship it reg mail for 50 cents. Ive made a lot of money selling just crap.
 
Don't charge $6.50 for Priority Mail then ship it out for .50 cents. People won't buy from you anymore because you are a dishonest seller. Buyers and sellers both give feedback on the transaction and the last thing you want is a negative on your feedback record. There are also communities within communities on eBay and word does get around on who the scum suckers are.

I've been selling on eBay for about 3 years now and it is really cool. There is a little bit to know when you start up and the rest you learn along the way. Depending on your product, the market may come and go at different times of the year. The day of the week and time of day you begin (and therefore end) your auction can have a lot of impact on final sale price. You need to think about time zones and what people are doing at different times of the day and when your target audience is more likely to be cruising auctions.

Your listing itself is important. Your photos need to be clear, good quality and without distracting objects in the background or to the side. Nothing like seeing a CD for sale that has been photographed next to a half full cereal bowl or ashtray. Your item description should tell about any details, attributes and even slight imperfections if there are any. If you know some html that is even better. A slicker and more professional auction listing = a better price is more likely.

You specifiy within your auction listing which methods of payment you accept. You don't have to accept Pay Pal but many do. You could just take money orders and checks if that is what you prefer. eBay charges fees on each auction depending on several things. A gallery image photo (from your image host) is .25 cents. I think that if you use their inhouse iPic service you can upload 1 image to them for free (but the image quality is not too great and there is a size limitation which doesn't work for my products). A 7 day listing or under is free but a 10 day listing is an extra dime. If you want the text of your listing to be in bold, I think that is an extra $2.00. If you want to do a featured auction that adds a lot to your cost ..can't recall if that is $19.00 or $24.00. Obviously not something to use unless you are selling huge quantities or higher end items. Your listing price itself will depend on how much you are asking for the item. The cheaper you start the bidding, the lower the fee. You can do an item for under $24.00 starting price with a photo for .80 cents to list. When the auction is over then eBay takes a final value fee which depends on the price at the closing of the auction. Fees fees fees fees! Then if you use Pay Pal, you have transaction fees that depend on the amount being transferred. The cool part of Pay Pal is that you can have it direct deposited into your checking account (think about selecting this option though, if you have security paranoia).

I was just kidding, I said that because thats what every single person I have dealt with does, and my feed back is like 80 something. And if everyone I dealt with left feedback it would be like 120.
 
I do it w/ car parts... make a couple hundred a month without really trying... buddy of mine makes a STEADY $1k+ a month doing the same thing...

see, this is what i'm talking about. how does someone do that? do you buy in bulk or what? how do you buy in bulk? any marketing strategies you need to use? etc.

the main things you need to tap into are:
1) sell a lot of stuff. volume - plus people respect you more if you have more successful sales. they will buy your crap over someone else selling the same crap if they trust you more.

2) make them think that they need the thing - people will pay more for things on ebay, even if they could just go to the store and buy it off the shelf for less. they get caught up in beating the other guy to win the auction. play that up - make them feel they need to win that auction.

3) sell things that they can't just go to the store and get. or if you are selling things that they can get just at the store, make it sound like these are somehow better.

4) make them feel as if they are saving money by getting it off of ebay. but with that, make sure that most of the people buying are buying it for more than you paid for. that way everyone feels like they are winning. I say make them feel that way - they don't truly have to be saving - like they too could buy it from where you buy it, but you need to add value or at least fake it.

and then there are always scams - but scams have high returns b/c there is high risk - don't want to get caught. :)
fake autographs, fake originals, etc

collectible items are good - but usually you need to have access to them prior to them being "worth" anything - such as baseball cards from the 50's and such.

if you can fron the cash - buy a lot of Harry Potter books, or some CD of a band that is popular, etc etc - then as soon as they come out, sell them on ebay and for some reason, people get into getting shit that way.

A lot of money is to be made when stores (dot coms, clothing stores, resteraunts, etc) go out of business and they need to get rid of all of their shit. go in and buy ALL OF IT (you usually get a discount if you get it all at once - it saves them the hassle of having to get rid of it).
then you go through the trouble of auctioning off parts from there.

this is what many of the clothes on sale are (well, and stolen stuff too) - they go in and clear out a store when they know they are bringing in a new season.

to do really well with that, you need to build up connections - someone that will call you and let you know before they let anyone else know.
