Seizure

i had 700 valiums seized from me last week. I recieved a letter from customs saying that if i want to claim them i need to sign something and return. They also said my name would be in the NY Post under the seizure section for 3 weeks starting in Jan. What does this mean and how do i keep safe? I am leaving the country on vacation around christmas, will i have a problem getting back into the country. My last name was spelled differently (missing 2 letters) on the package. Does that matter?

just make sure to NOT reply to any of their mails.

The fact that they didn't show up at your door is a good sign, since 700 valiums does seem a little over personal use. I would think that they typically would do a controlled delivery when they suspect you may be distributing.

Don't respond to their request (I doubt that you were to going).

At this point, some enemy of yours coulda sent em to you to set you up....they don't know any better...as long as you don't sign a damn thing requesting them or professing any knowledge of the package. Think about the term 'reasonable doubt' from a legal standpoint in these matters, and the course of action becomes obvious.
