Secure PM's, what do you think?

We were thinking about making the PM's secure? What do you think of this?

Unlike EliteFitness.com email which is secure and encrypted so that neither Hush not Elite can access them, our staff would unfortunately still have access to PM's. But it might add an extra level of security that none of the other boards currently offer. Is this worth doing?

Also, we are working with HushMail to add a Spam Guard that requires verification if enabled. And we are working with them to bring you Encrypted Instant Messaging -- like AOL. Let me know your thoughts.

I think its a great idea, from what I know, when you go to your PMs basically you will get an SSL encrypted connection (like when you shop online) and you will have a little padlock in your browser.

It may cause the page to load a little slower, but I think its worth looking into for sure! :)

Secure PMs sound good. Questions: We know that we arent supposed to talk about xxxxx and xxxxx in PMs at the present time, will the new system allow us to do that? Or, With secure PMs will we still need to take talk of certain subjects to encrypted emails?

Spam Guard= good.

Instant messaging. Not so sure about it. Not too many people are using the IM system now...at least that I've seen.

Yeah, I'm not sure how comfortable I'd be discussing certain things via PM.

Would this be an option that members could check a box for? Secure or not secure?

If they could make a secure P2P IM client...that could be huge. Potentially the first "killer app" for Platinum, IMO.

If you still have control over secure PM's, will this mean that a court order could still force you to release any info from them? I know it supposedly would not work for the email since it is handled from overseas. Also, if you do go through with the instant messaging, will you have an away message you can turn on so that every newbie that sees you online cant bother you while you are trying to respond to the days posts? I know the AOL instant message thing can be a pain in the ass without that option. Just food for thought.

One of the nice features with Yahoo Messenger is the invisible feature...you can still chat with people, but you get to pick and choose who you talk to, until you're ready to be talk to everyone.

Yes, unlike EliteFitness.com mail, a court could subpoena us for PM's, but the authorities would have a hard time intercepting them in the first place. Good idea about the IM's.

I think its a great idea. But what if the PMs are intercepted? Are they encrypted? I don't like the fact that they could be easily read if the ever are intercepted.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid
