***** Search Problem *****

I am trying to do a search but I keep getting the following message:

There seems to have been a slight problem with the Elite Fitness Discussion Boards database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

Anyway, I was doing a search on a comment made by Dial tone the other day about having a "high lats" problem. I wanted to know what exercises he did to change it. I too find my lats are too high. If anyone has any good advise, let it flow.

Its a known issue thats being worked on.

Everyone, please keep in mind that there are few forums on the net of this magnitud and forums this large require some serious processing power, often more than one system can handle. Many times times multiple systems are used to handle the load but the software often used isnt specifically designed for multiple systems so it takes a lot of time to get ther software and hardware to play nice together. That is where we are at now and unfortunatly its unavoidable and I am sure no one wants these issues resolved more than George, EF sam and digger.

I would like to thank everyone for their patience in this matter and their continued support of EF.

Thanks for the 411. I'll restate my question in the form of a new thread.

Zyg, you can either delete this thread, let it fall off or make it a sticky so everyone knows what's going on.

Please no one answer my question about high lats here.

Good luck with the problem. I know all too well how systems don't play nice with each other.

Is there any way to make a financial contribution to EF to help it finance its server upgrades? If we got an "EF pool" going, with some benefits like karma points, etc., I think people would latch on to the idea. Some previously posted that if all the 40,000 members of EF gave just one measly dollar, that would be $40,000! C'mon, we can all spare a buck, can't we?

Ahh, Microspeak—the new language pioneered by Bill Gates. It’s a “known issue" or an "intermittent issue". Then again, it could be a "design side effect" or "undocumented behavior" or perhaps a "technical glitch." Whatever you do, don’t use that three letter word. (Bug) <j/k with you Zyg>

My understanding is the hardware is allready in place, its just coaxing the hardware to play nice with the software......Stud Diesel, I dont think a MS product could "properly" handle a site of this magnitude.

Honestly for this issue I don't think that $$ would solve this problem.

Being familiar with the computer industry it basically involves a lot of tinkering, trial-and-error, looking stuff up on the internet, calling tech support, etc.

It's basically a human capital issue.

And with guys like Zyg, Sam, et al on it I'm sure it will be resolved sooner rather than later.

I’m in the field, I understand and I was just kidding.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, troops -- we've upgraded the database server and that should make a real difference (that's what the downtime Thursday morning was about).

I just tried that "wide lats" query and got five pages of results in about six seconds, with a realistic load (260 concurrent users). Let's hope that's a sign of better times ahead!

:D
