Search engine is useless

If more people would pay for platinum this wouldnt be the case. Running a site that is in the top 15,000 in the WORLD takes a lot of power and is expensive.

That makes sense. However, i would think that since this site is so big that more than enough money would be made by advertising alone to support it.

I know collegehumor.com, which is a very high traffic site, makes enough money to support itself and make the owners of the site a substantial amount of money through the advertisements it hosts.

And i'm not complaining... if it's slow it's slow.

Ditto. This site can annoy the hell out of me because of how slow it loads sometimes. BUT, I have no basis to complain - I haven't paid a dime for it.

I feel your pain guys, I have to deal with these slowdowns as well. Part of the recent slowdown is due to the impending server migration which should speed things up bigtime.

Granted traffic wise colleghumor.com is bigger but the sheer data stored by the backend database of a site geared around a message board adds a bit more overhead so the actual server/s that can handle the traffic on that site may not fair very well here.

As for advertising it comes down to activly seeking advertisers where potential for sales are high to the audience is high but it also takes manpower to find these advertisers as well and my understanding is with the upgrade and recent issues EF is running lean and mean on staff.
