I can't for the life of me understand owning tiny dogs. Why get something smaller than a cat that is noisier and higher maintenance?

Cuase my six year old daughter loves lil dogs. She is perfect for her. And really the highest maintenance is keeping the Husky puppy from eating her.

:sick: I have no patience for animals that have been purposely bred in such a manner that enhances certain physical attributes while simultaneously creating the intellectual equivalent of doggie Down syndrome (not saying purebred cats aren't guilty of it, either). And it's not just limited to small dogs, big dogs just seem to manifest it in physical problems and early death, small dogs get dumb and are usually spoiled, on top of things.

Actually the big dogs get dumb, too, but dumb big dogs eventually bite and get noticed. Small dumb dogs who bite and shit all over the house get giggled at.

I will say this on the subject. The husky is a helluva lot smarter than the chihuahua. There is no shitting in my house, Mrs.SB don't play that shit, she is a neat freak. Both of the dogs live inside for the moment and are crate trained. The husky has been a breeze to train, the lil rat not so much. The husky is on sucha schedule that you can set your watch by his bathroom trips to the yard. Rosealina the small dog can last longer between yard trips, but Tebow the Husky has zero accidents. If he is out of his crate playing with the kids, he will go knock on the door to be let out. he then knocks when he is ready to come back in. He is only 9 weeks old.

Heads up, you really do have to watch the Husky with the little dog, they still got a bit of wolf in them. The other problem is they can have a tendency to be runners, not a good dog to let off the leash. Not saying it's a bad dog, don't misunderstand me, you just have to accept/respect their nature.

I owned a Husky, perfectly nice dog. He took the lid (which was weighted with bricks) off the guinea pig cage while we were out grocery shopping, total massacre. It was playing catch with one of the bodies when we got home. I was preg at the time, Husky went to the shelter the next day.

This dogs father was actually a registered hybrid wolf. I got him from a place over in South Carolina, it is illegal in the state of GA to breed a dog to a wolf from what I understand. And I am really not sure exactly what a hybrid wolf is, but Tebow's dad was a damn monsterous looking dog, much bigger than your average Husky male. He also came with a nice price tag attached to his furry lil ass. And he is very aggressive even when he is playing, a lot more like the wolves you see on TV, than a dog.

DO NOT advertise the fact he's a wolf hybrid, I'm serious. If it's illegal to own them in your state and you tell the vet, in theory the vet should report you to the state department that oversees exotic/wild animals and your dog will be confiscated and euthanized. This I learned from someone in that exact situation in another state.

SB, if you haven't been told this, I need to give you a heads up: When he grows up, Tebow will kill that little dog if you don't take certain precautions. He could grow up to be extremely hyperprotective of your home and family, to the point of being dangerous, if not raised/trained properly.

Wolf hybrids are ENTIRELY different from regular Huskies or German Shepherds or anything like that. They are nothing like regular domestic dogs. You need to start researching this, ASAP. Google "owning wolf hybrids." If the guy who sold you the dog told you otherwise he's full of shit unless he was shitting you about the wolf heritage. But considering the pup is housebroken at 9 weeks, I don't think so (most people are happy if their puppy is fully housebroken by 4 to 6 months).

I've never owned a wolf hybrid but I know now and have known a LOT of people who have (I was a ferret breeder/rescue for years, we used to attend all the exotic animal shows) and I've also heard about the people who had to give them up. Depending on how close the wolf is their temperament can go one way or the other, it's not 100% predictable if the breeding pair isn't proven and even then the pup has to be raised in a directed manner.

Please don't misunderstand what I'm saying, I'm in no way against wolf hybrids, but any time you breed a domesticated animal to a wild animal you are going to see a re-emergence of behaviors that have been purposely bred OUT, with dogs it's certain hardwired responses that would be considered normal pack behavior.

I'm only trying to wave a flag, not criticize you. Considering you have children in the house, you need to be aware of this, if you aren't already :)
