Ok i wasnt raised with religion in my household for whatever reason. I have never read the bible, i believe in god and jesus christ and would classify myself as christian. That being said this movie was an experience.
First off is it accurate by the bible in the christian sense??
If so the Jews.. wow what a people to have done what they did, kind of puts a bad taste in your mouth ( no im not anti semite) , and hearing all this holy land blah blah jargon by them today and how its theirs so they kill palestinians( move us jews onto palestinian land) .. man is this world fucked up, some not all i would say have this elitist mentality, and shit is theirs .. sad thing is We send our troops to die for their causes, and WTC gets blown up cause we but in other peoples shit... i guess thoughts in my head are this world is a fucked up place, and humans are animals.

I know im all over the place , Did Hitler use the bible in any way in his persicution of the jews?? To me the romans were barbarians, and were before they killed jesus , the movie explained it as they killed Jesus to satisfy the jews, so not much to say about them.

Someone enlighten me on any of these topics, my mind is spinning.

by the way if i sound just plain fucking stupid please feel free to tell me, but right now i dont know what to fuckin think except what jesus said in the movie love everyone even the enemy, so by no means am i saying i hate jews, its just not a good light was casted upon them and i already had my beliefs on the whole israel and palestine thing

yeah, there wasnt a dry eye in the house i didnt cry but was choked up on several occasions, if u can sit through that movie with a straight face and no emotion.. you are a sick human being..lol but i thought it was good and i am not a religious person, a believer yes, religious and church going no.

I am going just to piss off the protesters....

If I wanted to take my kids(11 year old and 8 year old), do you think it would be too much for them too handle?

umm yeah way to much wouldnt take a kid to see this, adult only , shit not sure if i was 18 if i could handle it ,

You believe int he bible and christianity yet don't know if this movie represents the bible the way it truly is in a christian sense? I take it your beliefs are then a case of monkey see monkey do instead of honest belief.

What you saw was Mel Gibson's interpretation of the passion. If you were to develope a screen play that would be your interpretation. Mine would have sharks with lazerbeams on thier heads.

yeah i dont know the whole bible story, still does not mean i cant believe that jesus died for our sins, and god is the creator?? What i meant to say is that if i was to take up a belief from what has been preached by my friends and etc it would be christianity

Anyway the point of my post was the jews and what they did, if u are a die hard christian wich i am not, and do u all think that the jews did what was portrayed in this film??

This is just ridiculous - how the hell can you believe in something you know nothing about?

Please. Anything can be taken out of context or exagerated, yet still be technically accurate.

I can quote you as saying "I suck cock" and leave the rest of the context out such as you were talking about what a gay guy said to another at the bar you were at and everyone would think you were gay.

From what I hear, this movie focuses on the 12 last hours of his life and it is completely brutal. Perhaps a true christian would have chosen to focus on the 'life of jesus' and all the good that he represents than the last 12 hours of his life which consisted of torture and death... but I am not christian so I can't say for sure.

I could make a movie about christianity and focus on the salem witch hunts, and the crusades - is that an accurate portrayal of christianity? Even though the content is 100% accurate?

should have never stated i would clasify myself as christian, negate that but i believe their beliefs from what i have been preached on

Sadly the majority of christians are like this. To blindly believe something is truly pathetic and weak. If you have a religion (not sure why you would but...), I'd assume you would know at least what it's about.

well after watching the movie they have a right to protest, the jews made me sick in this movie..

Brutality was the way of the land for Jew and Christians in those days folks. Christians feed jew to the lions all the time too.

open discussion, so those who dont believe in anything what are your beliefs how is all this here and what the fuck are we doing here.. Just living?? if thats your opinion i respect it. But would not mind hearing about it

Want the real story:

Read Constantine's Sword by James Carroll. Christianty was invented in 325 AD at the Council of Nicaea, no one was thought Jesus was God before that.

Hitler had a great relationship withthe church, Germany was a huige church ally from 400-1870, 1870 being when von Bismarck came to power. He was a Lutheran and hated the Pope.

The vatican was the first state to endorse the Nazi regime, as they were only to eager to have ties with their old friend.

Don;t want to run the book for you, but seriously, read that mofo.

absolute truth. the council also voted on which books to include in the bible. they voted to exclude hundreds of others.

Sadly this will develop into a locked thread more than likely.

I just live my life and not concern myself with religion. I'd clasify myself as an agnostic as I have no clue whether there is a supreme being or not. And I'm certainly not gonna restrict my way of living for something that I can't be sure exists. Again, I'm not ruling out the possiblity that a god exists. It's just that I haven't felt the "feelings" like people that believe in their religion.

well having never gone to church except a handfull of times as a child with friends, i kind of go by the creed of there is a god and jesus and that i live my life to the best i can treat others the way i want to be treated, and am a good person.. dont see myself as ever being a church going man but just feeling that there is a higher power thats about it.

Matt I'm curious about that book. I've seen you say that a couple times and I'd like to read it but what kind of proof does it contain? References of how they know this, etc?

I'm half way through it. Very informative. Reads like a confession in some regards by carroll. Carroll is an ex-priest and the book is loaded with reference material.

three cheers for Mel!

He didn't bow to the powers of the Jews. If you say ANYTHING bad about jews -- you're racist. They want the christians to rewrite the bible and replace the jews crucifying christ with say the jamaicans.

He said fuck you, i'm not changing the bible and telling it the way it was written. DEAL WITH IT. Mel's the man for standing his ground and not wimping into the jewish powerhouses that run this country.

If The Passion, had Cread playing as the movie track in the background it would so rock! :garza:

Come on everyone should know by now that Jesus was a alien! :alien: :verygood:

Three cheers then for Rome for choosing the 4 out of 80-something gospels we still have today.

Three cheers for Constantine for bastardizing Christinaity to fit the popular pagan religions of his time so that he could consolidate powers.

Three more cheers for Rome for crucifiying over 1 million people.

And three cheers for all the false Messiahs who never got recognized like Jesus did.

That's 12 cheers. One for each disciple (all Jewish). ;)

Oh wait, three more cheers for teh Council of Nicaea, who voted that Jesus was actaully God, (no one thought this) then re-wrote the selected Gospels.

Red something you Philistine...another Roman word.

What I mean is that if you choose to label yourself as a member of a certain organization, you should at least know all about the hows and whys and the views of that organization.

Protest what?!?1 LOL..

protest what a group of people did some 2000 years ago!??!

What good will it get you?!?

For TOO MANY years, people change history and what happened "just to please" certain groups.

To be true and fair, you have to describe things THEY WERE THEY WERE, evne if it means offending people.

Kinda like how the # of jews killed by the Nazis, for some reason, keeps RISING every year. But that's a whole debate upon itself. Yet no one cares about the chinese slaughtered by the Japs.

You're such an uninformed goon in the realm of history. I am sick of clowning you, it gets tiresome.

Look into the behavior of the "Japs" toward the Chinese DURING THE WAR (ie after pearl harbor) then look into the behavior of the germans toward the Jews during the war and see the difference.

You public school educated, by chance?

Oh i forgot. In the MattTheSkywalker world -- killing INNOCENT people, men, women and little babies -- is different depending on what region you are. Oh yeah, i forgot.

How stupid of me!

And the 10,000 slaughtered in Congo past coupla years. Yeah that was just regulated downward movement of the masses. How niave!

you need to check your facts bor. you need to do more than just read one book and be completely swayed. christianity was not invented in 325 AD. it is true that christians were a sect of judaism until about 90 AD, when division started between the sect and jewish religious officials began. afterwards it was set apart from judaism, but not a completely different animal. then at the council of nicaea an organized christianity was formed. this is much different than being invented. let's not spread sensationalist propaganda because it just muddies any truth you speak.

people did indeed believe Jesus to be the messiah before the council. it is unequivocably written as such in the four canonical gospels, as well as the acts of the apostles and paul's letters. these texts were written before the council. yes, some of the apocryphal gospels do espouse different views on jesus' divinity, but a large majority of his followers believed he was the messiah. in believing so, they also believed the end time was coming. read paul's letters, and even the gospels and you will see that they believed the apocalypse was near. it would seem that even Jesus was sure of this.

if you want to attack the legitimacy of the institution of christianity (the church, pope, etc.) as well as its dogmas, that's a whole different argument. criticisms of the institution are extraneous to the basic tenets of christianity, as found in jesus' teachings and those of his apostles.

it's pretty irresponsible to mix up the evils committed by the church with the basis for the religion. it undermines any valid points you make and is obvious to anyone with half a brain.

80 gospels. Over half of them say Jesus was married to mary magdalene. wholly ignored? Ony by Roman leaders :)

Paul was seeking converts among an audience of Greeks who were not enhtusiastic at first. He had to express a sense of urgency.

Jesus had followers, so did about 200 other 'Messiahs' under roman occupation.

Much of "modern" christianty: virgin birth, 12 disciples, Jesus as "God" and the holiday of Christmas were all invented at Nicaea.

Do you know a lot about Judaism? .
