saw palmetto instead of finasteride?

Has anyone heard that saw palmetto extracts can be substituted for finasteride for attenuating the prostate? Of course, these extracts are relatively inexpensive, and one needn't procure a prescription first to obtain them. If they are effective for this problem, they may help for acne/hair loss problems. That would be sweet. Anyone know anything about this?

Well it seems to be keeping my prostate healthy but last cycle my hairline still suffered and I got bacne real bad and was taking triple the recommended dosage of Saw Palmetto.

Saw palmetto works but its not nearly as strong as finasteride. Something else that works is a couple tablespoons of pumpkin seeds, believe it or not.

Thanks to both. Punkin seeds, hmm? What the hell, I'll try it. I have horrific acne on my shoulders and chest from my PCT, and I want to be prepared next time.
