Hmmmm.. disease vs. getting hit by a truck.
Yes, that is a logical comparison
Yes, all disease is evolutionary weeding.
Have to agree with 2Thick.
Our immune system is a prime example of evolution.
Its taken 1000's of years to get to where its at.
I'll give you an example:
2 Twins...A and B
1. Take Twin A an put him in a static room. No germs. Nothing
2. Take Twin B and put him out in the world...with germs/microbes/virus' etc.. etc..
Until both are 18.
Then let Twin A out.
I can pretty much guarantee you Twin A is going to get sick almost automatically from a germ/microbe/virus'.
Why?
Because his immune system does not recognize it...and therefore is fighting an up-hill battle.
Twin B on the other hand..has an immune system who has already been attacked by the various germs/microbes/virus' and adapted. He can therefore repell any more attacks.
Same deal with diseases/epidemics and the human immune system.
Remember how many indians died due to the new diseases the colonists brought to the americas?
Exterminated tens of 1000's of them.....b/c their immune systems had never seen those types of germs/virus's.
Variola major is a good example..same thing with the Influenza Virus.
