Frackal----
I'll respond to this post since you clearly know how to engage in debate without resorting to the cheap, easy tactics some other members resort to in attempting to prove a point. (Of course, they rarely prove their points with their cheap rhetoric).
No. I do not agree with everything the Democratic Party has ever done. In fact, I'm disappointed that the Democratic Party has moved towards the center. The welfare reform legislation Clinton signed, although successful, was probably a mistake. The Democrats should have considered the hard-working union members in this country when NAFTA was approved. I also disagree with the Democrats move towards approving the death penalty. Further, the Democrats have let this current "Appointed President" get away with murder---I'm disappointed that AL Gore didn't slam-dunk Bush over his tax cut for the rich.
In short, the Democrats have sold-out to some Republican selfish ideas with much of its recent legislation.
Do I think President Clinton is perfect? No. But, I do believe he served his country with honor. More people have jobs today b/c of Clinton, the Environment has been protected better b/c of Clinton, workers earn a higher wage now b/c of Clinton. True, President Clinton has his personal flaws, but how many of us do not?
Why do we expect the President to be perfect in his personal behavior? Remember, to err is human. Overall, honor can come not just from personal behavior but from the work that you do.
President Clinton, more so than any President since President Johnson, has been a hard-working President who was with the American people every step of the way. You can feel that's overly optimistic, that's your choice. But, many of us honestly feel President Clinton cared about the American people----not just about the executives in the white ivory tower board rooms that the President Bush hangs out in.
In short, before you criticize Clinton, why don't you take a look at 1) what he did for the American people, and 2) How much he loved his job.
These two factors should tell you more about the man, than some trivial affair he had with an intern named Monica Lewinsky.
Ryan.
